Tired of rain out!
I LOVE my new Headrest mask. But no matter what I do I get rain out once or twice a week in the middle of the night. I have tried the following things and would appreciate any advice you can give. I DO love my mask so I don't want to get a different one.
1.I use a fleece hose cozy.
2. I have wrapped my mask all the way to the nasal pillows with gauze so no part is unwrapped, except the vent.
3.I keep the humidifier on the very lowest setting possible.
4.I keep the tank half filled with distilled water.
5.I keep the mask and hose under a blanket to keep it as warm as possible when I am not using it.
6.I keep the window closed, the temperature is the same in the room each night, but the rain out only happens a few nights a week.
7.My APAP is in the drawer next to the bed, it is about 12" lower than my mattress.

So maybe I can ease the temp up in my room a bit....and try the lizard branch warmer...I can move the machine higher and I can move the machine lower...(you put your right foot in and you shake it all about...:>D)
I am going to keep trying to find something that will work and I do appreciate all of your feedback. I am tired of getting a nose washing at 2:00am....

I have found that if I am cold at night I simply cannot sleep. A cool room seriously affects my ability to sleep. I would much rather have a really hot summer night than a cold night anytime!!!!
I use two blankets and a comforter as well. When it is really cold outside I chuck my nightgown and add a set of sweats (top and bottoms) to the mix as well.
But then again if given a choice I would take 100+ degree weather over cold fall/winter days. When I am cold it is nearly impossible to get warm. It is soooo much easier to cool off than to warm up!!

Bee, I had an M Series Auto-Pap and had rainout, despite the addition of a fleece cover. My machine was switched to a Respironics System One Auto that claims to minimize rainout. Knock on wood, so far no rainout... (Course I barely use the machine due to mask issues, so hopefully this pattern will persist once I'm using it regularly. It's nice to have one of the many problems solved.)

Hmmmm-- I wonder if this is really a machine problem in this instance. I have the same machine as you, and a swift for her mask. I use the humidifier on the lowest setting (1) and have a fleece cover on an 8 ft hose and have some rainout. Room temperature is around 68.

I did not have rain out when I use the swift LT for Her pillows mask unless the humidifier was too full, and before I used the fleece cover for the hose. My Machine is an APAP, a ResMed S8 Autoset II machine.
I do think it has something to do with the configuration of the mask, and the temperature in my room. You would think with all the improvements that have been made with the CPAP machines this problem could be addressed.

yeah , rain out seems to have it;s own rules and I keep setting the level lower but then I don't get the benefit of the moist air .....It's such a apin to wake up and hear that loud gurgle ! It wakes my hubby up to so all I can do is shut it all down and drain the next day and run plain old room air through it ... never thought to insulate my hose ...????
