The NEW Respironics FullLife Full Face CPAP Mask - Review

Hey everyone,

This is my first post in this forum. I just wanted to let everyone know that I have begun a new blog where I will be reviewing new CPAP masks as they come out.

I just posted my first product review of my new full face mask (the Respironics FullLife). If you haven't heard of this mask yet, you will soon. Take a look at my in-depth product review at my blog:

http://thecpapreview.blogspot.com/

I hope that those of you who want more information on this mask will find my review helpful! I'll let you all know if I am able to make more reviews!

Thanks for looking at my review, Susan. I am thinking about doing another one. Any suggestions? I want to try out this funky mask called the FitLife (a total full face CPAP mask? never heard of it before).

Did they fix the weight issues? Does it get hot the way the comfort gel series does?
I am currently trying to get the FullLife face mask. Your review is the first one that I came across that gave full details on it. I have read 2 other reviews from a supply website and they both just said that they didn't like it. No reasons or anything. I currently use the Mirage Quattro after trying another mask of the same type which failed, so I am now back to the original mask that I started with. I too have a sore forehead. It feels almost as though I have bumped my head. I have tried adusting it to no avail. Who knows how long it will take my DME to get back with me. They are not very organized, and they have poor communication between the employees. The only one that works there that I have had any decent communication with is the Manager. I know that sounds weird that he is theonly one that has been helpful while the other employees that he is in charge of are lacking, but I do understand that he runs 2 seperate stores plus he delivers oxygen supplies. I really wish that there was another DME closer to me, but as I said on another thread that there isn't another one in a 30-40 mile radius, and I don't drive so it does make it difficult for me. Thanks again for the review. It was very informative.
I just tried this on Wednesday. I'm very impressed.

It doesn't get hot like the Gel Series and it's very light. There is no "elbow" adjustment, so your vision is not obstructed (for those of you who sleep with your eyes open).

There is a Chin support (not strap) just like the Optilife nasal pillows. Also headgear similar to the Optilife.

Best thing in my opinion is that it sealed on me. I have a crappy long Slavic nose...long and skinny and deep...really ugly thing. (was called "boner nose" as a kid...and I didn't fight it because it was true) I pressure tested it at 16cmH20 and not even kind of a leak. I strapped it on very loose. There are also reinforcements on the cushion near the bridge of the nose to minimize leaking.

Best thing, we tried it on a patient last night (8/20/09) and she loved it. I actually think she tried to steal it...

Only potential con: a third strap (second strap really) that goes around the neck. This could easily be improved upon with a second generation mask that uses their familiar black ball and socket clips for easy popping off and on.

Jason

Just my lousy two cents

The Rep also said that there is a Nasal only Fit series mask that will be similar in style to my beloved ResMed Vista. I'll have to reserve judgement because the Vista is frickin' AwEsOmE!!!!!
Hi All,

I have had my Full Life face mask for 5 days now and our beginning to Love it! I had a Mirage II Full face mask before and the only problems I had were headaches from my forehead because (with the forehead piece adjusted all the way) I had to have the forehead piece tight so I wouldn't get air leaks around my nose. Also I travel allot and mask broke several times above the nose piece and forehead rest. The new Full Life face mask doesn't have a forehead rest and doesn't have any easily breakable areas when I scrunch it down when packing in a suitcase. If you travel allot like me this is the mask to go with!!

I did have trouble at first adjusting it because it doesn't feel solid like my old face mask but this turns out to be a good thing! Also this mask is very lite in weight something you wouldn't think is a big deal but turns out is one of the most positive things about the mask.

To adjust this mask do it in a mirror not by feel!! I first had my chin strap (something I didn't have on the old mask) to tight so it would force the mask down onto the bridge of my nose making a sore spot. After adjusting in a mirror I realized my problem. Also at first I was worried about the straps being tightened equally only to discover I was getting allot of leakage once I tightened it up slowing side to side (unequal) I got a solid seal. I am finally getting great results from the mask I am waking up without a headache, more energy and thinking very clearly for work!

Run don't walk to your DME and get this mask!

Good luck
The Fitlife is the 3rd mask I am trying out. I used the Hybrid mouth and nasal pillows which worked very well (utilizing the top of panty hose to kee the pillows in place) until a sore formed inside my nostril. The Quattro nasal and mouth mask gives me headaches and tends to leak around the eyes. Now after using the Fitlife for 3 days (I have a 30 day trial that cost me $70.00), the main problem has been that it digs into the top of my nose causing quite an indentation and irritation. I would like to avoid using the gel pads on my nose (@12.95 per month) since that seems to cause a bit more leakage. I have read the above, but would like solid advice on this situation. The Fitlife seems like a perfect mask once I (hopefully) defeat this problem. Thanks.

Sam
Sam,

I too have the dig into my nose I simply put a medium size band aid on my nose to stop that from happening. I have had the mask for sometime now and that problem has finally gone away and I don't need the band aid. I think the plastic just needed to soften up. Good luck! Also the chin strap might need to be loosened a little bit!

Thanks very much. It certainly is a cheaper alternative and I assume it won't cause leakage. I'd really like to stay with this mask.

Sam
Sam,

I had to adjust my mask in the mirror when I first fit it. Now when I put it on at night with the band aid on I wait to my cpap gets up to speed then a do a wiggle move that stops all the leaking. I don't no why this works but it does. Also I wash my face before I put the mask on. Hope this info helps.

Thanks again. By wiggle move, you mean the mask? I'm sure washing my face would be a good idea, the only problem with that is it wakes you up :) I have another 3 weeks to try everything before deciding to keep it, so open to all ideas. I like the band aid idea, the cushier the better, but a question, plastic or cloth type? One advantage of a band aid is that it stays put. The gel pad tends to move around.
