Okay, here's my most recent sleep history after all these weeks of struggling. Sunday night 8 hours--Monday night 6 hours--Tuesday night 4 hours (go figure!)--Wednesday night 6.5 hours--Last night 7 hours. Looks and feels like a trend to me!!

I'm going to sleep a lot faster every night this week, AND I'm not getting up in the middle of the night for the bathroom AT ALL. (That's a BIG change).

I've cut out ALL caffeine of any kind including chocolate (dammit!) and am losing weight by choice. (Don't need to lose much, but a little may help). And for all the MISERABLE congestive symptoms I've had ever since I started on CPAP about 5 weeks ago, I've cranked my humidification, which I've been messing with at lower settings for some time, all the way up to 5 which has saved the day for me. Last night I turned it back down to 4 and plan to keep it there. 4-5 is the ONLY level that's helped on a sustained basis. NOTE: I take a LOT of Rx meds for heart-disease and associated problems, several of which are very drying. So I'm NOT recommending any of you do what I'm doing re: any of this. What I do know for sure, now, is that humidification IS the answer to upper respiratory side effects, i.e., congestion, runny nose, cough, headache. All of that is now gone except for a kinda raspy voice. Don't know what that's about and frankly, I don't care. It came with the CPAP reactions, and I s'pose it will resolve with time.

Energy and motivation are slightly, but noticeably improved in the past two days.

Keep going with treatment. Don't stop!! I wanted to so many times, and now I'm SO glad I didn't.

I feel like I've turned a corner here. And for those of you who have been with me during this struggle the past few weeks, I thank you, again!, for continuing to support and encourage me. This is THE best news, for me, that I can think of for just ages.....

DON'T GIVE UP HOPE, YOU GUYS!!!!! Honestly, I thought I'd NEVER be where I am right now. I'm hoping, with continued self-maintenance, and all the help I'm receiving here, improvement will continue. I really think I may have turned a corner here.....

Wow!!! It's the first time I've had any sustained hope for a long, long time......at this point, I'm very, very grateful for CPAP and thankful that I was diagnosed in time......

Susan I am very proud of you. I think that so many people concentrate on treating the desats of Apnea. In a high number of cases I see the Sleep get ignored. You have found a nice balance in which both are being treated. May you be belessed with uneventful sleep.

Having YOU say that, Rock, makes me cry. GOOD tears. You've been, and continue to be, here for me in every way possible. I'm so grateful....and I thank you for sticking with me when I've been a freakin' heathen on SG......

Thats awesome Susan! Beleive it or not I've only been using mine a week and I can tell a difference in how I feel throughout the day. No more day time sleeping for me.Even though the weather that we have been having is good sleeping weather. After watching that one video and hearing the success stories I told myself last night that I was going to last through the night on the CPAP. I am still waiting to hear if I am going to get a different mask. Unfortunately for my supplier they do not communicate well. I had to call several times before I got the second mask (which didn't work well with me either), and it is the only place within a 30 to 40 mile radius where I can get my supplies from. The other places only deliver oxygen supplies which I don't think is right. There are lots of people in my area that don't have transportation that can't get the things they need because of these company policies. Anyhow, Keep up the good work on sticking with the treatment!

Hi Christine--I was just about to say that you can change DMEs and then you told me about where you live. That's a tough one. And what may make it worse is, if there's no local competition, they have no real incentive to provide high quality care. Is there any possibility that you and some others who have similar problems in your area could get together and figure out a way to travel as a group to where you can have contact with a reputable DME company? Just a thought, but sometimes if everyone pitches in some way, impossible things can happen. I don't know where you live, and you don't have to say, but there are probably other people on SG who are living far away from suppliers too. It's just pathetic in this day and age that where you live has to have such an impact on being treated well. Is this company accountable to anyone? There may be a higher power that can put pressure on them, either professional, state licensing, or something like that. Makes me wonder.....you might be able to poke around on the internet and find out what kind of butt-kicking agencies there might be nearby. Sounds like DME needs one. Or six!!

I'm really happy to hear about your renewed commitment to your treatment. It was the same for me only you found it faster than I did. The video is what kicked me into gear too. It was a life-changer, for sure.

Keep your chin up.....

Good to hear from you and thanks for your support and encouragement.

Thanks, Cindy. It's a long road for all of us, one way or another. How are YOU doing these days?

WTG Susan. It's not always easy, but you've proved with enough determination you can do anything.

Best to you. I fought it tooth and nail for 6 months but can't sleep without it now. Hang in there.

THANK you, Phil. I so appreciate the encouragement. I'm still doing well, as far as I can tell. Sleep's pretty stable. Feels like a miracle to me....I'll never sleep without my mask now!!
