Just go home from ER w/hubby. And a hairy drive home it was!!
He has a knack for getting stung by ground wasps or hornets or whatever the little buggers are. Several times a year and multiple stings at a time. He has for years. Well, tonight he got stung on the bridge of the nose. W/in a half hour "I" couldn't recognize him, it was if he had a mask on. We popped A benadryl down him, just one to get him to the hospital w/o interfering w/their treatment when he got there. A baking soda paste on the site and off we went. It took 2 IV administrations of a steroid, benadryl and Pepcid plus 4 cold packs before the swelling went down enough that they released him. THANK GOODNESS none of the scarey reactions to the bug sting like throat swelling, breathing, etc.!!!!
But the fun wasn't over yet. I'm pulling out of the parking lot at 1:30 in the AM - and my headlights went out. BOTH of them. I had parking lights and taillights and brake lights, just no headlights. I turned the switch on and off a couple of times. It looks like they are on in the dashboard. By getting out and checking a couple of times they finally went on and stayed on after going on - and then offf a couple of times. So I headed for the 24 hour drug store to fill the scripts we were given. Its hard to tell you don't have headlights on when you are driving on city streets w/the overhead street lights. Twice they went off again on city streets, but turning the dash switch on and off a couple of times would bring them back on. Needless to say the first time they went off when heading for the drug store we changed our minds and headed for home w/fingers crossed and murmuring a few prayers.
We have a long stretch of two lane county road - like COUNTY ROADS - the kind w/no street lights. Thank goodness no ditches and freshly painted white side and middle lines. Thank goodness when we left the city and hit the county roads the headlights decided to stay on all the way home. BUT ...
... when we hit our road and that last LONG mile to our driveway THREE times we had deer dart across the road in front of us. Only once when I had to really hit the binders and stand the car on her nose. The second batch that crossed I had to stop and just sit there because two were undecided about whether to cross or not. They FINALLY decided NOT to cross and turned back into the woods but they sure took their good ole time deciding to do so!
I thought my driveway and home looked good when I got back from the trip to Mayo w/my neighbor!!! HA! I think they looked even better tonight!
And, of course, I am too "wired" to sleep just yet. Hence this long tale.
