Where did you get the illustration from? Do you have questions in regards to oral appliance therapy and it's beneifts to the treatment of OSA? I would be more than happy to send you any information I have or to answer any questions that you may have in repect to this subject.

Hi Tanina:
I have since learned that the graph is part of an ongoing & as-yet unpublished study, so must remain for the time being unattributed. I don't know much about OAT, but I have been impressed with some outcomes in our program.

Hi, Rock!
I'm happy to know that you are open to learning more about OAT. Have you been on the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine website? (www.aadsm.org) You can find the Practice Parameters for OAT on there as well as more research and publication information.

To date I have very little experience with the oral devices. I have participated in only 3 studies that have incorporated these into the therapy. 2 were oral devices by themselves. While in both of these studies we did see some improvement in AHI it was very little. We did not make any adjustments to either device. In the 3rd study the pt used both CPAP and the OAT. An RPSGT adjusted the device in this study. This is the only pt that I have seen able to manage a consistant AHI<1.
How does a Sleep Tech aquire training on these devices? I am sure that we will be seeing more and more of these in the future.
