I got my CPAP on Friday and had a good first night with it and felt wonderful yesterday:o)

But last night was a different story - I guess I was having leaking problems as air was blowing onto my cheek - irritating my eyes.

I have a ResMed Swift LT for Her, with nasal pillows.

No matter what I did last night I just couldn't manage to get the fit right.

ANy suggestions as to what I may have done wrong - thanks guys!!!!

I'm a pretty new cpap user too using a different mask (Comfortlite 2) but one with nose pillows as well and am still having trouble with it. However, what worked best for me so far was experimenting with different sizes of nasal pillows...a bit too small or too large and I'd get leaks. I'm so glad you had a great first night!!!!! Hang in there! Hopefully some other folks with the same mask (that's the first one I tried, by the way and it didn't work for me but others swear by it) will have some better pointers for you.
Did you happen to take your Swift LT for Her apart to clean it? IF so, double check how you put it back together. For one thing it isn't unusual to put the barrel on backwards. And contrary to what they tell us, it isn't necessary to take these masks apart to wash them, nor is it necessary to wash them every morning. When you do wash them a gentle baby shampoo works just fine and a vinegar water rinse can be used if you so choose.
I thought of that Judy but I turned it around and it was worse lol. I guess it just going to take time to get it right. Thank you both for your responses :o)

I hope you can get that fit back. I know on my first Swift mask (the Swift I) I was using the medium size at first. That leaked so I tried the small, but it leaked more. I couldn't believe I could possibly need the large, but yep, that fixed it. I could have sworn they'd had me on the medium during my titration, but I guess not. Defintely try a different size.

I have the Swift LT now, not the for her version though, just the regular. I guess I have a big nose :)

Also, try fiddling a bit with the headgear. Sometimes actually loosening it on top and tightening around the back helps. (I tend to keep tightening the top over and over till finally I realize it's the BACK that's gotten loose on me.) Try the other way though too.

And sometimes I find I have to swivel the nasal pillows. I guess it moves when I take it off sometimes, or from the hose pulling. I've also found that sometimes it will leak less if I have it over my head or hanging down. Usually I do the over the head clip, but sometimes hanging down seems to work better. Not a clue why.

Only other thing, make sure it's actually not that the headgear is too tight, oh, and that the double layer in the nasal pillows has both layers pointing up. Sometimes (expecially if my 3 year old got a hold of my mask) the inner layer will be pointing down.

Good luck! It is really wonderful to actually get a nights sleep isn't it!
Great info - thanks very much!!!
