I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea. I had my original sleep study done 2/10/09 at the behest of my husband who observed apnea when I was asleep. Honestly, I thought the test would be negative or would show a mild apnea, but they said I had severe apnea in REM sleep. I had 57 episodes in an hour. Since I am new to this, this means very little to me, and I don't know my AHI number -- didn't even know there was such a number until I started educating myself.
I had a second sleep study done to titrate the CPAP on 3/3/09. I was dreading it because I slept so poorly the first study. Well, my friend the sleep tech (I feel like I know him well after two nights with him) put the nasal cushion mask on me and I slept like a log all night. The best night's sleep I've had in 10 years or more.
I'm a registered nurse about 3/4 of the way through graduate school. I work in pediatrics so I don't know a lot about this condition, but I am ready to learn.
