Hey, I just noticed....it's the AAA approach to surviving sleep apnea. Triple AAA. Can't get much better than that!!

Hi Jackie--I was diagnosed with heart disease nearly 4 years ago. Wondering now which came first. I was having (undiagnosed) symptoms of apnea in the early 70's, so it's been chewing on my body for 35 or so years...Jeez! Now have a pretty big sleep deficit to work on--was fortunate to find SG, 'cause everyone on here has helped me normalize everything. I was kinda off the wall when I first got online 'cause I had no clue what was happening to me.

I had a hard time with both diagnoses. Both were totally unexpected except for the fact that I've been exhausted for years and never knew why. My doc's treated me for everything under the sun, run labs, etc. forever. It finally reached critical mass late spring this year, and my cardiologist referred me to Neuro for a workup--eval. negative, MRI negative, sleep study x2 = severe sleep apnea. It was a shock, but to tell you the truth I'm glad now to know there really was something going on all those years, that I wasn't just nuts. Can't say I'm happy about CPAP for the rest of my life, but like you, I'm grateful that apnea's treatable. AND that I'm now tolerating said treatment!!

I can actually say now that I'm feeling slightly better. Nothing dramatic like what some folks report, but some improvement in energy. Very subtle....odd how bodies react so differently to medical things.....

I'm really glad you're on here. I think you have a lot to offer.

AWWWwwwww,pshaw....blushing.....thanks! After the first 4 or 5 nights of waking up, and even crying because I couldn't stop the leaks, I HAD to get past this pity party. So I came up with the thought that I'm grateful I found out. I told my self,"Accept this, adapt, and know that life is just different, not over".I have problems with my heart now, possibly because of untreated apnea. NO WAY I'M GONNA ignore the dangers of untreated apnea now that I know more about it's side effects!
Well, aren't we having the time of our lives? You with congestive heart failure and me with coronary artery disease--just add sleep apnea and stir!!!!!!!!

I also now have congestive heart failure..could be from apnea, but it 'runs' in both paternal and maternal sides of the family.
You are absolutely right about the attitude piece! I've only recently re-located mine, and I'm happy to report it's intact!!
