Haven't ever heard that kind of diet being praised as a successful one. Any research you've done on it? I'd think veggie and meat together would be a great diet. Not sure about veggie only though

I think as long as there is enough protein foods included it would be very healthy. I would get some "educated" advice, though from dietician.

Hw come, Rock?  I'm on a low carb diet.

Watch the documentary forks over knives.

Ive been reading some stuff saying that food with lower levels of protein may be better. I need to get serious about losing some weight again. Im gonna juice for 10 days and see how I feel.

No Mike that is exactly the type of info I was looking for. I have tried to start this conversation with several people and they look at me like I am crazy. Im going back to Indy to visit my meat and potatoe eating family this week. We will start this diet week after I get home.

Mike C-- i love your post and congrats on losing so much weight, keeping it off and feeling great.  the proof is in the pudding -- well, in your case, the carrot sticks.  I also lost a lot of weight -- about 30 lbs. -- by portion control, limiting portion size, and avoiding simple carbs altogether, all coupled with exercise for about an hour 3x per week.  here's something that i read recently that has me thinking about dropping wheat altogether -- I know someone who lost about 30 lbs. without any exercise at all just by eliminating wheat from his diet:

Hi Rock, I have changed my diet and become mindfull of what I am eating. By making 90% of what I eat from scratch and logging what goes in my pie hole I have lost 21 lbs this time. Last was 54 lbs.

I have started physical therapy to get me back in to going to the gym . B vitamines may need to be supplimented on an all veggie diet. What is your ahi been running??   Good Sleep,Chris

it is just getting started in these lifetime changes and sticking with it with occasional indulgence to keep you sane

99 you sooo are right on overcomming the inertia and getting going is the biggest hassel. A small realistic portion of a goodie once in a while helps too.good sleep,Chris

Rock, Do you have one hour three times per week to take on weight lifting? Would you enjoy it? Could you hit the weights hard and stick to it longterm? Is there a gym convenient to work or home? Would you study and use a trainer to make sure you are using the proper form?

I would work on switching the body composition to a high muscle-to-fat ratio and forget about losing weight. You would need to keep an eye on your blood lipid levels.

You should expect to see your weight maintained or even increase but your pant waist size would get smaller. When you start seeing the changes it becomes great fun.

I wonder how many people switch to a vegan diet and are succesful longterm? Maybe one out of a thousand?

I don't think I could ever go completely vegan. Im just going to switch it up some. Substitute some of my proteins. I have already rotated some weights into my routine. Im gonna juice for a week and see how I feel.
