I use them sometimes when my nose is stuffy. Sometimes it works enough so that I don't have to resort to Afrin nosespray (which then gets my nose so dry it hurts). They're great! So far we've found that the name brand ones work best, although my husband liked the walmart brand ones ok (they didn't stick well for me though). He didn't like the publix brand ones at all though. (publix is a chain grocery down here in FL.)
Yep! It's really awful stuff. It sucks you in because when you first use it, it is SO awesome to BREATHE so well!
But then you find that you have to use it more and more, and then you can't quite last till the next dose is due, so you take it early, and then you take an extra snort or two, and then you find you're looking for the higher dosage version but still using it every 6 hours...and then you realize you have a problem, so you try to stop, but now your whole nose swells completly shut and you can't breathe at all, and how can you use a cpap without being able to breathe thru your nose, cause you don't have a full face mask! OMG it's a vicious cycle!
And that is why I only use 1 spray of it, very rarely and only if the saline I have isn't working. I've also gotten one of those neti pots and that helps me avoid the afrin sometimes too. And these nasal strips.
HATE the afrin.
