Do most people who use nasal pillows that go into your nostrils also have another mask (full face???) for times when you might have a cold or allergies kicking up? If not, what do people with nasal pillows (or nasal masks for that matter) do for CPAP when they have a cold?

Yes, get a full face mask for those miserable colds! What ever mask you get wear it to make sure it works for you.
i don't think that most people who use nasal pillows use full face masks when they have a cold. I think most people who use nasal pillows don't use their CPAP machine when they have a cold. But i'm not sure that's a nasal pillows thing. Myself, I have a nasal mask, and I don't use my CPAP when I have a raging cold. Maybe nasal irrigation would be something to do before going that far to see if it eases the congestion. Unfortunately, there are no good answers when you have a bad cold.
I suggest getting 2 masks. A nasal and a FFM.

Mike good sleep is the best thing for a cold. Get a FFM.
