If you are looking for a dental device I would highly recommend goint to a dentist accredited in making such devices. You will have follow up to make sure it is fitting correctly and you are actually able to wear it. Your dentist may also be able to refer you for a follow up sleep study to be sure the device is working.
I would not waste my money on these OTC devices. They may help with snoring, but I doubt would help with sleep apnea.

Oral appliances have been shown to be effective in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. You should see a dentist that is certified by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. You can find one by going to www.aadsm.org. When you schedule the appointment, be sure to give the office the information to your sleep doctor/clinic so they can obtain your most recent NPSG. At the time of your visit, the dentist with the sleep study with you and perform a series of tests to determine if you are a candidate for Oral Appliance Therapy. From there, impressions of your mouth will be taken and sent to a laboratory to fabricate your oral appliance. When you return to the dentist to get the appliance inserted you will be given a log sheet to keep track of how many times you titrate (adjust) the appliance. Communication between you and the dentist is important. You must report in your progress to the dentist on a regular basis so that he/she can determine when it's time for you to return to the sleep clinic for another sleep study with the appliance in place. This final sleep study will determine if the appliance has been successful up to that point in the treatment of your Obstructive Sleep Apnea or if more adjustments need to be made. well, the purpose would be as the item states - to prevent sleep apnea. thanks for the reply though banyon, i'm going to listen to tanina and seek a professional instead of going with an otc item

Cliff, I asked the question because the device is clearly promoted as a snoring treatment, not a treatment for sleep apnea.
