Hi Trixie! This is Melodie. I don't have a C-PAP, but I use a Bi-PAP Auto SV - just a different type of machine for central sleep apnea.

In any case, I also wake up with severely dry eyes and a lot of tearing every morning. I have to dose my eyes with natural tears as soon as I wake, as I feel like my eyelids are turned inside out because they are so dry. Here is what I do, and maybe it will be of some help to you.

Every night before I go to bed, I use "Refresh LiquiGel Eye Drops for Moderate to Severe Dry Eyes", and then in the morning I use the same exact thing. It is the best of all the over-the-counter dry eye drops that I have found, and I have gone through almost every brand out there. I purchase mine at Wal-Mart, as they are a little cheaper there. Another brand that I really like is called "Blink", and I get their moderate to severe dry eye drops. Both of these brands of eye drops are a little thicker than normal eye drops, but they give your eyes that extra "cushion" that you need when they are so dried out. I also spoke with my physician about it and he said I was doing the right thing, and NEVER to use anything made by Visine.

Hope this is helpful, and go out and get one of these brands of moderate to severe eye drops before bed tonight and I promise you will be much happier in the morning! I have no vested interest in these products, except for the simple fact that they work for me.

Mel,
I have tried that but have found that my eyes feel gummy, right now I am using Systane and it works somewhat to help, I would like to avoid the problem. I have glaucoma and use a bedtime drop for that- Betimol.
Thank you,
What mask are you using?

Make sure you are not leaking air into your eyes as they will dry them out.
I am using a Resperonics Comfort Gel ....S/M .And I have it on so tight that I get a mark on my forehead and cheeks that takes hours to disapate. I also get a "bloated feeling, and lightheadedness. I alternate with a nasal pillow type mask. This doesn't leave marks but I wake many times during the night and have to readjust it because of leaking. I don't see any markings as to what brand.
What is your pressure?

I'm not sure how do I check?

Trixie - the pressure your machine is set at should be on your paperwork that you had to sign for the DME to leave the equipment with you. It is in the doctor's orders, as they (the DME or Respiratory Therapist) must follow specifically what the doctor's orders state as to the pressure setting on your equipment. If you cannot locate any paperwork that gives you this info, you can always contact your physician and ask them about your settings - or even contact your DME, as they will have it on file.

Also, regarding the "gummy" feeling in and around your eyes - mine do that too, and I simply take a very warm, almost hot, wash cloth and rinse around my eyes whenever I get that gummy feeling or crusty feeling. That usually takes the gumminess away for me. I think I have "dry eye" syndrome, as I am having to use more and more moderate to severe dry eye drops of all kinds until I find the right one. Like I said previously, "Blink" is a good one that I like - even though it is a little thicker - it is not as thick as the Refresh LiquiGel Drops are.

Hope this helps some,
Mel
