Thanks for the list, Judy. My ResMed manual lists what masks are compatible with my machine and the DME has never suggested another brand. I'm satisfied with my Quattro, but would be happier if I could stop the pressure on my nose. I tried a friend's mask- a gel seal, but the vents were near the bottom and the mask noise was terrible. I had bought the same mask on cpap auction hoping the gel would help my nose, but after trying my friends I didn't even try the new one. I was going to try the Liberty, but my MD nixed that adamently due to the high pressures on my machine. I tried it for one night (the night before he said no way) and he was right. I couldn't stop the nasal pillows from leaking no matter what I did.

Hi Mary,

I am so sorry if I'm insulting your knowledge of your Quattro. Have you adjusted the dial near the top of your mask? A slight twist will ratchet out the mask giving you and your nose some "breathing" room. The key to masks, all of them, is for them to be snug, but not tight. Hopefully you didn't know this, so it will help!!! :^) Otherwise, sorry for stating something you may have already known.

Thanks Saz RPSGT, I keep reading that masks need to be snug, but not tight, but at a pressure of 22 I'm finding it harder to deal with leaks. I have adjusted the forehead dial and my nose is looking better, thanks. I think one thing I need to do when the sides start blowing out at night and the whistling and other leak noises start - instead of just tightening the mask I should take it off and readjust. I slips up into my mouth, or down too far. If I just start over and refit it I could probably stop the leaking better than just tightening the straps more which doesn't help that much anyway. Once the inner seal gets displaced the mask probably needs to be taken off to fix the leak. I'm between a small and a medium size and have been using the small one lately. I could try the medium for a while and see if the leaks get better. I check the leak data as well as dealing with the subjective feeling and hearing of leaks. I ignored the forehead dial for a long time, but do find it helpful.
Thanks for your advice,

Mary ZImlich

Mary, often you don't really have to take the mask off, just pull it away from your face a skosh so that the cushion can refill w/air and then just let it back down on your face again.
Thanks Judy, that does sound easier!
