Last Thursday I had pretty extensive sinus surgery. ENT doctor opened up the sinuses under and over my eyes with a balloon and cauterized the passages to prevent swelling from closing down the cavities. Since surgery I've used my cpap maybe 3 times and each night was miserable. I woke up feeling worse then I did before the cpap therapy. I decided to not use it. My nose has been completely clear thanks to sinus rinses and Ibuprofen. Last night was the best night's sleep I've had in years! I woke up completely rested and feeling GREAT! Is it possible that my apnea was only a result of my horrible sinuses? Can apnea go away? I'm so beyond happy that I had this surgery done, and I'm only going to feel better as the weeks go on.

There is always a chance your OSA can go away. I guess.  Please have a sleeep study to conform this before stopping CPAP.

Yes I agree with Mary, Anna.  Have another sleep study to check.  I've had 2 lots of surgery on my nose, and whilst this has improved my OSA and certainly made CPAP more comfortable, it hasn't gone away and I never expected it would.  However, now my nasal passages are clearer everything's so much better.  Good luck and let us know.

I haven't been wearing it because it's uncomfortable now, and I wake up feeling worse. I'm going to give my sleep doc a call after the holidays and have another study done and see what it says. Fingers crossed it's good news =D

Really hope it's good news for you Anna, and will be interested to know how your next sleep study goes.  Good Luck :)

Thank you =D

Anna, how are you doing?  What's going on with the CPAP?

Hope you're feeling well.

I'm feeling beyond horrible. I knew that surgery was hard but I had no idea just how hard. My sinuses have been hurting for the past week and a half. A few days after I wrote this I started feeling bogged down and waking up in the middle of the night, so I started to wear my cpap again. I've been having issues with it. Leaking especially. I wear the full face mask and it's been hurting my nose to wear it. I've just been miserable. Thank you for checking up on me =) I'm just trying to rest and get better.

Thanks for the update.  Hopefully next post you'll feel better.
