For the past few weeks I've been thinking about how much SleepGuide has helped me since I was diagnosed with OSA in June 2009. And about how much so many of you have come to mean to me even though we're "cyber friends".
With that in mind, I've joined American Sleep Apnea Association (Mike has the website address). With a $25 one-time donation, they provide a medical alert bracelet and a year's subscription to their apnea newsletter.
There was an option for donating "In Honor of" or "In Memory of"--I decided to make my donation in Honor of SleepGuide, and I wrote a short testimonial about the tremendous asset this site is to the sleep apnea community. I also encouraged ASAA to endorse SleepGuide along with their other sources of support.
This may be something some of you may want to do. For me, it seems like a very small way of saying "thank you" to everyone on SG, both patients and professionals. It's by far THE best apnea website out there, and if we, as part of this ever-growing group, support the site publicly, perhaps it will be of benefit down the road as Mike and The Sleep Crew go about the business of maintaining and growing our website.
If this makes sense to you, I'd encourage you guys to check out the ASAA website. They have a # of interesting and potentially very helpful articles on their home page, and the donation program is clearly defined and tax deductible.
IF you decide to name someone to honor, I hope you'll consider SleepGuide and what it may be doing for you in YOUR recovery process.
Hats off to SleepGuide, and everyone who makes it go. Including US!!!
Susan McCord :-)
