I used a PAP and the a bi-level for 3 years before I started having problems w/aerophagia as we approached the higher pressures (IPAP15, EPAP 11). The nausea, bloating and upper gas got so bad it was necessary for me to stop using by bi-level all together for two months.
During that two months I used just my 2L of 02 overnight, took a Dexilant every morning, also, at first some Zofran for the nausea as well as amoxicillin daily for possible bacterial overgrowth (I have a high grade partial obstruction at an old resection site due to Crohn's disease). After finishng the 8 weeks of Dexilant, I took a Zantac AM & PM and started back on bi-level at 10/5 for two weeks. Then 11/6 for another 2 weeks. The first 3-4 days I always had some nausea and/or bloating that would eventually pass. Then it was 1 cm at a time for a week at a time, 12/7, 13/8 until I made it to 15/11 and the queasies and mild burping these past 3 days, hopefully ending by tomorrow.
Most likely your doctor will have you try something along these lines. Good luck and God bless!
see your doctor about reducing your pressure for now until it goes then see the doctor to increase to the original levels
