headache after CPAP mask fell off
I'm still reeling today from the effects of having my mask slip off last night. Have no idea why it fell off. But I always get a headache the day after. Does that happen to anyone else?

the headaches are because you stopped breathing during the night and is oxygen stavation
which is common in apnea

99 could have it exactly right. Morning headache is a symptom of sleep apnea and if
you get the headache everytime this happens...
Mike, does your
machine have a leak alert (my ResMed VPAP Auto 25 does though they keep disabling it at the sleep docs office ? I keep turning it back on.)? It
let me know one time when my hose came loose.

My machine does have a mask alert -- and it is activated. Problem is, it's not loud enough to wake me. I'm one of those guys that doesn't wake up from a deep sleep unless someone throws something at me.

I get this type of headaches too. The worst is usually when I wake up with a neck ache that builds to a full blown migraine. I have to start with meds right away to tone it down. If I get to it soon enough, it can mostly go away, at least the pain part. I have had these occasionally, even since starting cpap about a month ago. I am wondering if my central apneas are mostly responsible, since I have kept my mask on well every night, as far as I am aware, and am not aware of significant mask leak. I also have the O2 bleed. I figure that the supplemental oxygen is not going to help if I am not breathing it in, even when all my current equipment is working properly. I am working on the equipment issue gradually with my medical team. I also wonder if the temporary low oxygen at night is just a trigger for the migraine, since I should be getting enough O2 once I start breathing properly again, after staying awake during the day. I wonder if using the O2 during the day for a little while would help at all, once the headache started. I will try to talk to my doctor about that.
This may just be my issue, since not all apneans have migraines. I do wonder if my undiagnosed, untreated OSA/CSA led to the migraine condition to start with. Maybe time will tell.
I have one of these headaches today also. Ugh!

Yep, the headaches are in all likelyhood from not having the mask on and apnea events that have occurred.
I woke the other night with a whopper of a headache and discovered that my mask was slightly ajar as the headgear had slipped. I believe I was leaking enough to cause the problem. I didn't think to check the data and now can't remember exactly which night it was. :(
