theorecaly the air intake is the same as the mask
but is this really so


as normal breathing does not dry your mouth

not sure exactly what your question is, but the pressurized air definitely has more of a drying effect that would normal breathing.
There's so danged much flow involved with PAP that the nose & mouth can be overwhelmed & rendered unable to humidify the air you breathe, which leaves you dried out.
