Anyone ever have the feeling of falling off the bed in your sleep and than you twitch? Could that be an apnea event?

I get that feeling too sometimes, but have since I was a little kid. I asked the quesiton on Ask.com. The reply basically said that it's a normal reaction to your body relaxing when you fall asleep, and that there could be other reasons. Go check out the article. It's really long, but kind of interesting.
I don't know if it is Sleep Apnea or not but I have had that feeling of falling more than
once & that's once more than I care too.

I have had these feelings since I can remember. They don't happen very often, just a few times a year.

It is like falling off a tall building or bridge, and then the twitch.

It can be kind of scary, as when it is happening it seems so real.
nice post jeff. These are also called sleep starts. Does anyone ever have vivid dreams with them? How about the feeling that someone or some thing is in the room with you?
I always thought of these as OOBE but LOL leave it to science to find PHYSIOLOGICAL reasons for them.

The time when I first knew I had apnea and I was scared, I couldn't breathe at the moment of falling asleep so I would wake up, started using ambien, hadn't seen a sleep doctor or been titrated yet................I was about to fall asleep again, I turned to the lady of the house and I asked her "If I fall asleep and I stop breathing, will you wake me up or call for help?" She assured me "Of course I will"............

Then I woke up and realized (yet again) "THERE AIN'T NO LADY IN THIS HOUSE".

I'm alone.

Saddest thing.
