I need a full face mask.  None are great, but ResMed Mirage Quatro, small, seems to be the best.

I have always been a side sleeper. With this mask and a cut out pillow, on good nights I  sleep without interruption for five hours.  Then it becomes uncomfortable and I wake up every hour or so. I tried at least nine different masks before I settled on this one - six months ago.  I use a Respironics BiPAP auto SV with Encore Smart Card.

I wish someone made custom full face masks.

I like the Resmed FX nasal pillows, Micro nasal, and the Quattro II FFM. I own all 3. Despite the bridge problem of the last 2 I like them for ease of use. Resmed makes it very easy to adjust these masks. I also own the Fisher Paykel Flex nasal. This is a ver comfortable mask.
Wow, that sounds like it could get very irritating. I was lucky enough however to find a cure for my sleeping problems naturally so I never had to use a mask (thank goodness). Hopefully you'll be able to find something that allows you to sleep through the night like I have now been able to do.

I have had the Quatro in small and in medium. Neither size is right for my face. Both leak so badly that I have to put them on TIGHT to stop the hissing. Then I wake up with deep red marks in my forehead and an actual headache from the thing. My provider has only this brand and one other that fits under the chin. I need a full face mask but wish I could get one that didn't involve my forehead, was soft, and sealed properly. I'm hoping to hear of some alternative masks I could special order.
Hello Jenny ~

I have been having the same problems with the XS Quattro. I had a headache in the beginning and I am also sensitive to the material that all the mask are made with but both problems have been resolved by buying a "forehead pad" from Karen Moore at Pad-a-Cheek - www.padacheek.com - I bought an extra dense pad and it is so very soft and comfortable and I have forgotten about the headaches.

Also, when my pressure was at 9, I had no problem with leaks but, now my pressure is increasing and once the pressure got up to 14, I too began to have a leak problem and the mask was uncomfortable as I tightened the straps, which also caused the unwelcome facial pressure marks.

And this week when I raised the pressure to 15, my leak rate went from under .10 to .76, so I fussed around with my mask over a couple of nights. Now, maybe I have been EXTREMELY LUCKY but I discovered something that may help you.

A side note: I have read in Quattro's literature and here on SG that the Quattro is meant to be worn somewhat loosely and that the air circulation within the mask works in some kind of a suction manner and that that is better to prevent leakage that if the Quattro is strapped too tightly against one's face. Yet, because of my leakage, I just HAD to tighten my mask. BUT . . .

In my case, my leak is primarily near the high part of my cheek bone on the left side of my face and in fussin' with my mask this week, I discovered that the Quattro seems designed for the structure of one's face. In my case, I have been wearing my mask, as I think most people do, centered on my face -- BUT - I surprisingly found out - if I wear my mask - just a "smiggen" to the right - the Quattro seems to avoid "sitting up" on my facial bone structure - which was what was causing the leakage - not only in the main leakage area, but pretty much everywhere ! In 3 nights of fussin', I went from a leak of .76 to .00. And I also LOOSENED the mask back to where it was at the pressure of 9 - or looser ! So, yes, seems the Quattro is meant to be worn loosely. All of this surprised me because I don't have any pronounced bone structure. I wouldn't have even thought about bone structure if I hadn't been fussin' with my mask and "felt" cheek bones and then got my idea. I wondered if the mask would stay in place that little smiggen to the right (and I also moved the mask up a smiggen) - and, yes, it seem quite content to rest in its new place.

So, here's hopin' this will help you out . . .

Best and lots of good rest,
Renee

Do you mean Mirage Swift II -- I can't find a Quattro II anywhere (or is this a brand new mask improving on the Quattro -- my own favorite mask)?
Quattro II FFM. Yeah, I'd be interested if they were coming out with an improvement on the Quattro FFM. I think ResMed has really missed the boat by not making a total face mask. I tried to tell them , but my experience lately is they don't respond to my emails with requests for mask improvements.
Spam.

That's the truth, Joe. There was another woman on the forum a little while ago who touted the same remedy. If it were true, I'm sure the doctors would be all over it. As it is he's going to get somebody killed.
I heard putting a broom under your bed works to stop snoring. LOL.

Maybe Karma will catch up with him. I would think that trying to make money off of people with serious medical problems wouldn't set well with the big man upstairs.

Thanks so much! The small was definitely giving me headaches, so in the middle of last night, when I woke with a killer headache and aching eyes, I switched back to the medium but with the small headgear, which is a better combination. The medium mask is too big, but if I find just the right position, vertically, then I don't have to wear it so tightly and it is mostly OK. I did see that tutorial that shows that isn't supposed to be worn tightly, but, no matter how precisely I try to put it on, esp. the small, it hisses like the devil until I tighten it down. I have a terribly BASIC CPAP unit that gives me no feedback, pressure 10. I wish I had come to this site and read the beginner's articles before I bought my unit. Since I've switched insurance, I wonder if it will cover an upgraded machine--auto PAP or at least CFlex. I will definitely order those pads for my forehead. I could swear the thing is putting permanent wrinkles in my forehead!!

I've heard this same story with full face masks over and over again. I just spoke with a Doctor the other day about a patient that sounds just like you he recommended to try a mask liner. I actually haven't heard enough to know how well they work but i guess in your situation and many people like you anything is worth a shot. They are called RemZzzs and they can be found here. http://1800cpap.com/remzzzs-full-face-and-nasal-cpap-mask-liners.aspx
I have had problems with many masks over the years. My nose and bridge are small so I would get leaks and try to tighten the masks, which also didn't help. I finally purchased the Resmed Kidsta mask which is designed to children over 7 and smaller petite faces. I have found this mask works best for me. By the way, my local medical provider has never been able to find a proper mask fit for me. I just keep purchasing masks with my own money (which is about what it costs when I go thru my insurance) thru cpap.com and have had no problems.
