La Joyce, I see from your profile you think you may have sleep apnea. It sure sounds as if you have some sleep disorder. Please get yourself to a Doctor- your PCP might be a good start for a referral to a sleep Doctor. Or maybe your PCP willl order a sleep test. You definitely need to be tested for Sleep Apnea and maybe narcolepsy. Stop Driving, please, before you hurt yourself or someone else. I know that's tough- I had to do it myself. Falling asleep during a conversation is one thing, but at the wheel it can be deadly.
Please take care of yourself and get tested. You must be pretty sure you have sleep apnea since you found this group.
Good Luck,
Mary Z
You really need to talk to your doctor since it is dangerous to fall asleep when driving, operating dangerous machinery, and certain activities.

Please follow up on this.
travelling at 60 mph is 88feet per second or a mile a minute
do you see the risk in driving

get a proper diagnoses and donot drive if you are tired or better still do not drive get someone else to drive you and be like royalty
Hi La Joyce. I do hope you'll see medical help. It could very well be sleep apnea. Several people in my family had it and yet also said they had no probs falling asleep. My husband has it and his main symptoms were waking in the middle of the night and being unable to get back to sleep. A sleep study will give you a lot of information and then you can look at your treatment options.

I have to agree on the driving though. My grandfather had sleep apnea, but decided he wouldn't treat it. He was always drifting off while driving me around as a kid and it scared me to death! Wish I'd had the power and guts to tell him I wouldn't get in the car with him back then. It could have been a tragic ending for us both.
