I have only been using this cpap for a month they started me out with just a nose mask. But i breath through my mouth. So they sent me home with a chin strap. So I tried it and still breath through my mouth so they told me to tighten it up as much as I could stand it so I did and still wake up with my throat really dried out. So I called them again and told them and she told me to come in and they would fit me for a full face mask. I did and she said it would not matter with this one of I slept with my mouth open it would not hurt. But I still wake up with the driest mouth in town I am about to give up on this cpap I cant stand to have my throat to be that dry My tough is stuck to the top of my mouth and I have to drink two glasses of water before I can even swallow I need help what can I do? I have tried the chin strap with my full face too it still dont help
Thank you Mary

Have you tried adjusting the setting on your APAP humidifier? If not, try that.

Are you eating food within a few hours of going to sleep? It is suggested that a person stop all food intake 3-4 hours prior to bedtime to prevent GERD (acid reflux) condition which can cause dryness and irritation in the throat and mouth. You might not even be aware of that happening while you sleep. Dr. Park explains this well on his website and possibly on SG. http://doctorstevenpark.com/biggestthroatproblemforsleepapnea

You may also want to try Biotene products to help with dry mouth issues.

You may need all of these types of solutions together. I had some issues like this, but mostly before using CPAP. I use a chin strap and all of the above suggestions. I still have a dry throat sometimes too, but these ideas do help, the more I use them.
First Thank you for responding to my post: I have acid reflux and I don't eat 4 to 5 hrs before I go to sleep I also have insomnia and COPD. So its already really hard for me to sleep. I have found that I like the C pap and I fell I can breath a lot better wearing it. and I have tried setting the humidifier both ways one drowns me and the other way is too dry so I have it set in the middle. I guess I just have to work out all the bug so to speak again thank you and I will try this too. Mary
