A recent discussion comment brought up the subject of drooling.

FitLife mask forehead leak

In the workshop we had our Respironics rep told us the forehead leak is the only real ongoing complaint they have had with the mask.  She is hopeful that this problem can be eliminated going forward with a bit of refinement.  She said the best way to fix it is to press securely on the mask over the spot where the leak is worst and then tighten the top straps while applying the pressure.  The problem is that this may be a bit difficult for the patient to do it at home while wearing the mask!  Hadn't thought about the drooling problem, will have to watch out for that and warn patients.  Thanks for answering my post and good luck to all of you.

Does anyone know what causes drooling? Does anyone know what can be done to stop drooling?

The subject caught my interest because I went thru a short period of drooling some time ago. The trouble is I don't remember what mask I was using, what pressure, etc., etc. I had hoped I could remember the circumstances - but I can't. It "seems" to me that I was using the same mask before and after the several nights of drooling, but I just can NOT remember. Nor do I remember how long the drooling went on. And in the very dim recesses of my mind it seems to me that there was a short time that I drooled W/O using PAP and mask. I do remember it wasn't a very long time - but then it wasn't a very long time that I experienced some drooling W/PAP and mask. Certainly not weeks either time, just a matter of days (or should I say "nights"?)

I can't resist a post about drooling! :)

I actually have had some drooling nights/naps. I use the swift nasal pillow masks, currently the fx model. I have noticed that I seem to be most likely to have drooling issues when I'm truly exhausted. If it's a normal night and I'm able to relax into sleep normally then it doesn't seem to happen as much. Weird.

I look forward to others sharing. I KNOW you all do it sometimes at least!
song
hang down your head tom drooly hang down your head and die hang down your head tom drooly oh boy your goning to die

an adaptation of an old song
This time tomorrow
Reckon where you'll be
Down in some lonesome valley
Hanging from a white oak tree

Good'un, 99, I well remember that song and still play it fairly often. By the Kingston Trio if I remember correctly. That song made it over to your side of the pond, eh?
See You later plain ole' CPAP
After 'while Autoadjusting APAP
You're getting on my nerves now
You're cramping my style

Bill Haley & the Comets??
Judy, I don't know who coined that phrase.... I think "you're getting on my nerves now, you're cramping my style" is original to the ditty. I'll have to googles it and see if I can find more of the words. Carbonman on cpaptalk.com is famous for his sophicated setting to music new cpap words. Next time I see one, I'll bring it over.
Ha! I never thought! CarbonMan would be a great one to do so new words for the Laryngospasms!!! I'll have to suggest it to him. Maybe he can come up w/one of the old songs most everyone knows w/some CPAP or apnea words!!!

Besides their "Waking Up Is Hard To Do" I like their "Dream", "C.R.N.A." and the rib-splitting "Ring of Fire" about hemorrhoids.
