I watched all 5 parts of Dr Gominak's talk on utube. Has anyone here had their vitamin D levels checked? Has anyone here taken D3 and found the level she talks about?This sounds interesting, what do you think??

Hi ZolliStar, I have a doctors visit comming up next month. I am getting more sunshine but I wonder what my "D 3 " level is.Dr Gominak suggestes That A level between 60 and 80 is good for optimal sleep. Could this be something we all should look at ??????? Good Sleep,Chris
Also note what Dr. Gominak says about the importance of B12: You should test at >500. B12 is readily available at health food stores. Take about 1,000 daily. (It's water soluble: overdosing shouldn't be a problem). I think the best form of B12 (and most expensive) is colabamin. It is also suggested that taking a sublingual form of B12 is the better choice because it is better absorbed.
Another matter: You should take Vitamin D3 (not D2) with Vitamin K2 (as menaquinone). The ratio should be 2,500 IUs of Vitamin D3 to about 90-100 mcg of K2 (menaquinone).

Hi Folks, I just wanted to clarify...I saw referance to Dr Gominak in another thread . Thought hey why is this not being discussed ? Dr Park said last night their was not any discussion of D3 in Boston at the Sleep meeting this last week. Why is this seemingly not in the fore front of sleep treatment discussions? ? She sounds plausable in her discussions. But than again ideas at first do not always get run with. What do I know?

Chris, I thought Dr Gominak's talk on D3 was stimulating because there is some rational to her theory, even though there are no studies to prove it (yet). I e-mailed her and asked the question. Have you done sleep studies on your patients after they have been treated? Her answer was "no," because insurance companies wouldn't pay for it. Frankly, I hope it turns out to be real, but you know "when it sounds to good to be true, It probably is." Waiting for the studies, but It goes without saying, that if you are deficient in D3 and/or B12, etc. you should correct it because of all their well known adverse consequences untreated.
My D3 was 48ng/ml, so I upped the dose from 2,000 IU/d to 4,000 IU/d and will recheck in a few weeks (trying to get it to 60-80ng/ml). B12 was normal. I'll do a HST in a few weeks to see if gets rid of my OSA. If it does I'll let you know.
