I remember my first time.... ah, the memories.

Congrats, Susan. That is a huge accomplishment!
It IS, Mike! It's one of the most incredible things I've experienced in my life!! And I've experienced a LOT of incredible things, particularly in the field of health care.....

The fact that I'm still so exhausted, even though this is a huge breakthrough which I'm elated about, convinces me that I was in much more trouble than I ever dreamed. Ordinarily after 8 hours of sleep, I'd be rarin' to go, and I'm most definitely not even close to that. Yet! It's a real wakeup call to me to realize how far down I really am.....I want my life back, and now I have real hope that that can happen. If you're following the gene mutation thread on here, I'd be glad if you'd look at what I just posted on there. I'm dead serious about what I'm saying, and will value any feedback from you or anyone on here who knows more about sd than I do. Which is practically everybody!!!!!! LOL

Thanks for your encouragement, and celebration, today. It means a lot coming from someone who "gets it".....

I am curious about night #2.
Dan--Night # 2 was last night = only slept about 6--seems to be a day-to-day thing with me on a lot of this stuff.....

Good going, Susan! It sure is incentive to stick w/it, isn't it? You're on your way, gal!
Hi Judy! Yep, that video was THE catalyst for me, painful though it was to deal with. I'll carry the image of that guy the rest of my life.....but that'll be a good thing for the times I get discouraged.

Thanks for the cheerleading! I appreciate it, a lot....I'm feeling better now that I've gotten the SG replies. As always, this site continues to comfort and inspire me.

Hey, congrats! It's worth it, isn't it?
Hi Eric--it was worth it THAT night, for sure. The next night I slept 6--last night I barely slept at all. I think that's so weird. Erratic.....

I appreciate your support, Eric!

Wow I am happy for you I know you will feel good all day today!!!! I didn't know how to act when I sleep all night with my CPAP either it is exciting. I don't sleep every night with it all night it might be two days a week. Most of the nights I don't sleep with it on all night it is around 4 or 5 when I take it off.
Good for you! I didn't because I came awake expecting radically different. But after a week I felt like you. My mask makes the sound of the distant sea and surf. It's so relaxing.
Yes indeedy....Eight hours is soooo good. I have been on CPAP for 6 months. Many more great nights of sleep than poor. Some nights of course can still be a challenge. I can list 25 aspects of my life that improved only three days after getting consistent sleep. No more naps....either. It was really weird when I was used to feeling compelled to take a nap at 3 in the afternoon....and then no longer needed it. I have gained lots of real awake time. Congratulations. Believe it!
What video are you talking about, Susan? I've only had a couple of 8 hour nights since I started (first on cpap then on bipap) in March, but even when I only get 5 or 6 hours sleep, I still don't get drowsy and have to take a nap during the day. It has changed my life dramatically. I hope you'll continue to reap the benefits of a decent night's sleep!
