Anyone ever have this happen?
I have told my DME provider that the hoses for the Cpap are very difficult to remove. This morning, I went to changeover to my new hose. When I tried to remove the old hose which had cracked, the crack tore and the end was left on the Cpap. I couldn't get it off, nor could two of my neighbors. I called the company 4 times, the manufacturer and the doctor's office to see if anyone had any ideas on what to do. I live in a rural community an hour away from the DME company who wanted me to drop by with it. They finally sent someone who was in the are over to deal with it. He got it off by tugging and poking around with a pocketknife. It finally came off and he said to remove the hose in the future, have the machine on and wiggle it. He too did not believe me that the hose is difficult to remove...even after wrestling with the end piece that was stuck. I just wonder if anyone else has ever had this kind of problem? Thanks.

Noreen, I use a Resmed rather than your Respironics and have never had that problem. Yours sounds faulty as you should be able to take it on and off daily if you want to clean it and you shouldn't have to have the machine turned on. Is it still under warrantee?

I don't think it is under warranty and after 6 phone calls I still have not gotten a satisfactory answer as to why the hoses are so hard to get on and off. I am going to see my doctor in a few weeks and they will get an earful about the DME company. I have already warned them that they were on thin ice when I was not getting my supplies in a timely manner. They have been better about it, but after today, I think that perhaps another company might meet my needs better. I want to feel as though they at least look into something like this instead of dismissing me as a "difficult" customer.

Noreen, I agree, have you spoke to or looked on the Phillips website to see if the manufacturer will assist. They don't normally want bad publicity. Maybe also if you can work out whether it's the end of the hose or the exit part from the machine.

I called the manufacturer and they had no idea as they have never heard of it before. When I told them how long I had been complaining about the problem to the DME company, they did take a complaint though even though it might not have been one of their hoses.

Noreen, I have been on the machine for over four years. One time, out of many hoses, I got one as you described- it just was too hard to get off and on the mask and machine. All the other hoses have been fine. I have used ResMed and Respironics Machines. I wonder if heat from a hair dryer would allow you to remove the hose. I hope it doesn't happen again.
