Leaving for a long awaited "Mom's break to Tahoe, CA. If I don't have a altitude adj. button on my CPAP, Puritan Bennett Goodnight 420, do I turn up the pressure to make up for altitude?

Call the company (DME) that you got your machine from. There is usually some sequence to button pushing that will get to an altitude adjustment menu. Your machine may have an automatic adjustment for altitude.

You can also check your user's manual.

We stayed in Oakhurst, California, on our Yosemite trip, elevation 2274ft, I had no problems, fyi.
I'm going to Arizona for 2 weeks the end of November into December. Has anyone been in the desert with CPAP? If so, were there any issues in going from your normal climate to hot and DRY, DRY, DRY??? I'm concerned 'cause I've had ongoing problems, off and on, with my sinuses getting all screwed up related to moisture level--I run 4 to 5 constantly on CPAP to control it.....what will happen when I'm in a really dry environment??? Makes me nervous......

I'm brand new to this and have only used my CPAP two nights but my unit specifically states it automatically self-adjusts to elevation. It doesn't have a specific button or programing requirement for elevation. As far as climate....obviously I don't know since I've only used it two nights! I did live in the dusty dry, but beautiful Arizona Sonora Desert for 11 years though! Now I'm in humid, gooshey, green and also beautiful, Florida! Have gone from one extreme to the other......same with my health!
Pm Leslie Scott she is in Colorado and deals with altitude a lot
I lived I'm az for 3 years. Loved it

No, Dont change pressure settings at all. Pressure settings has nuthing to do with Altitude. Use it there first and if you find any diff. then call the company but dont change the pressure. Just a suggestion.
Rall..
You are good with CPAP. what model / make ?

I just noticed my Respironics RemStar w/ C-Flex has an "elevation setting" 1-3 settings, up to 2500ft, 2500-5000ft, and 5000-7500ft, and I just press a few buttons to change it, fyi, my machine is 3 yrs old. I never knew that.

attitude can make a difference. 0-2500 ft is level 1. 2500-5000 is 2 and >5000ft is level three. If you ever played with the attitude adjustment while at sea level and had your machine hooked up to a water column you would see an increase in air pressure coming from the machine approx 1.5 cmH2O increase with each level. Most new PAP devices have auto altitude adjustment. Puritan Bennett Goodnight 420 is one of them. So no, Melanie, you don't need to worry. Go on your trip and sleep soundly! Have a great vacation!
