I haven't flown since I have been on CPAP. I am planning a trip this November and plan to carry the machine on the plane. Does anyone have any advice about getting through security? Are there any problems getting the machine through ok?

Thanks,
Mary Zimlich

i looked at the price of batteries and the prices were obsene and so i optede to purchase an inverter
an inverter plugs into the car lighter and give mains voltage for about twenty pounds sterling £20 that is a fraction of what is asked for also you should ask for a seat with a power point near where ether a cigarete lighter or mains voltage with an inverter you are prepared
You don't need a heavy-duty one. Most stores sell the standard 6,8,and I think(10) ft white extension cords, these machines don't use that much juice, the 6 foot is WAY TOO SHORT for any hotel, by the time you loop around a king(hopefully) bed, I'm pretty sure I got the 10 footer(8 is ok), it fits in my CPAP bag, in the back, where the owner's manual is, I kept my Kaiser paper/ Rx in there, in case they asked... nope, they never asked for it, they just wanted to know it wasn't a bomb I guess. I think if yours takes batteries, it would be good to take some, I think mine uses that, but gotta research that, but machines, to me, always perform better with a power source, so avoid that. They don't hold you up at the airports with this, in my experience. I took it to Yosemite on a bus trip (fantastic) and took a couple small water bottles of distilled, until I could buy some, but if you use purified, or even tap, it's not going to kill you or clog the machine with minerals, you can wash the humidifier when you get home, the air comes off the top of the heated water, any minerals settle to the bottom, and I don't think any data storage is affected by bumping the machine, but if you drop it or someone snatches it, you might need a new one. :~)

Gordon, I hadn't even thought about taking an extension cord. Thanks for THAT idea!! When you say "standard" do you mean we shouldn't use a heavy duty extension?

I've been concerned about the possible jostling of my equipment during airline travel. Can that data info get screwed up if the machine is moved around too much???
