RESMED PROHIBITS SALE OF THEIR ITEMS ON CPAPAUCTION.COM

Resmed has prohibited the sale of their items on CPAPAuction.com. Many sellers are working around these restrictions. Until we can enforce the Resmed ban with precision, we can't accept new auctions. We apologize for this sorry state of affairs.

Resmed needs to get rid of that bleeping idiot they installed at the top and maybe bring Peter Ferrell back. Either way, I've been an avid Resmed fan and it pains me to say this - but - screw Resmed and all the horses they rode in on. I'm done defending them, I'm done using their PAPs. So far I've not had good luck w/the couple of their masks that I tried. Now I will no longer even try one of their masks.

Has anyone checked to see if Resmed has taken on craigslist yet or not? Or are they just bullying one large, well-liked, popular online DME supplier??

Go on back to Australia, Resmed. You are no longer welcome or wanted here.

I have a feeling things are about to get ugly for sleep. The legal battles are about to begin.
Here's a comment from someone else:

"This has been on the horizon for a number of years now.
In Europe, ResMed either owns or is part owner of a large number of DMEs, who supply their product. Smaller DMEs are being frozen out. This is what they will continue with throughout the world.
In Europe, they have taken on the online suppliers too.
Auction are obviously next.

Respironics are not 100 miles behind. Once the Phillips takeover and branding is fully complete.......I think you will also see change."

So ..... are Lincare or Apria in line to be taken over, bought out or bought into, by Resmed?
I do not believe that they can directly own a DME here. Then again I did not think that a DME could do sleep studies.

laws need to be enacted to stop this Resmed bullying and separate the manufactoring from the sales control that they so tightly control for their benefit and to the detriment of the hostage (sleep apnea patient) who has little where to go
Come see me! I will guide you to the right DME in your area.

this is another step backward from the patient's perspective -- taking control out of the patient's hands and keeping control within the healthcare "system," with all of the perverse incentives, third party approvals and other hoops to jump through that go with it.
I challenge ResMed to justify this move publicly on this forum. On its face, it's the equivalent of saying "Up Yours!" to the Sleep Apnea patient.
ResMed could not care any less about what we think. They don't view us as their customers at all.

The sad thing was, before this ban, CPAP users were their best advertisement. I'm on several forums and there was a lot of encouragement for people to demand S9 machines--lots of coaching to help people navigate insurance and DME's to get these machines. Also lots of good word of mouth about ResMed masks.

Nice repayment, huh?
I just sold my whole eight (lol!) shares of their stock. Most people on the forum seem to deal with Respironics anyway.
So much for my "To bed with Resmed" slogan. *sigh*

And it wasn't just the S9s. The S8s were a great device and they and the S8 IIs did well for Resmed gaining them market share in the US - and I'm sure elsewhere around the world.
i would certainly be comfortable with private parties transacting business through this site, all in public view -- i.e., naming their price, etc.

What I find most entertaining is how ResMed's efforts to keep their products from showing up in auctions will backfire on them completely, and has begun to already. That move will force private parties wanting to sell ResMed products now to post their prices on Internet forums (instead of auction sites), which will make those prices MORE visible, not less visible. The prices will now be posted publicly where people will see them who aren't even looking for them, and those posts will rank high in Internet search engines. Will ResMed then go after, and try to shut down, every Internet forum on the planet?

I remember when ResMed used to appear smart. In Internet time, that was a looooooong time ago.
Thanks for offering the use of the forum for exchange of ResMed products, Mike. Perhaps our classifieds will finally get some postings, or just post as a new discussion. I imagine this hurts cpapauction a lot. The amount of merchandise available on their site has decreased dramatically. When I tried to sell a mask on eBay they wouldn't take the ad as it is a prescription item. I always think of Craigs list as more of a local area for sales. Do you think cpaptalk will offer the same ability to list ResMed items? Should we cross post just for this purpose? I rarely go there, this site keeps me happy.
