I have been considering purchasing a pulse oximeter. I have a finger pulse oximeter but that doesnt help me record anything at night. I would appreciate any comments re: effectiveness, model, reasonable place to purchase, pro's and con's....anything at all...... Thank You.........Claudette

I have a CMS-60C with both the adult and pediatric probes, purchased from http://www.facelake.com/pulseoximeter.html. (You can buy both probes at once as part of a bundle.)

I'm not sure how it would stand up to constant use in a clinical setting, but it works great for family use.

For those with small fingers, this may be a better option as the CMS all-in-ones or adult probe may not register well.
Thank you Brian. Altho I have no need for a pediatric probe, I will contact facelake.com. I want a recording pulse oximeter for home use, so I am not concerned about its use in the clinical setting.....I am resuming my research into the available options for the purchase of an oximeter, so your post is helpful.....Claudette

Does anyone know the difference btw these two models: CMS Model 50-E Pulse Oximeter vs SPO-7500 Oximeter. Big price difference. Can the CMS work for overnight monitoring?
SPO Medical is in Israel and the company has been around quite awhile w/several professional, i.e. medical environment, models available as well as the SPO 7500 which has been out about 4 years now.

The Contec CMS recording oximeters have only recently been FDA approved, maybe 2 years or even just one year, and are made in China.
Do you know if the 'made in china' model can be worn overnight and register/monitor/record while apap machine is being used?

I know that the CMS 50 D+ (plus) is a recording oximeter that comes w/its own software. And it uses 2 AAA size batteries which are only good for ABOUT 24 hours of use. And then there's the model that has the lithium battery mentioned elsewhere. There's been quite a bit of discussion of the various Contec CMS oximeters at cpaptalk.com I would think the best thing would be to talk to the Sellers and ask them questions about the various CMS models and what it is you are looking for in an oximeter.
Thanks Judy. I'm reading through the cpaptalk.com threads and found there are at least three models from the same mfger that accomplishes the task of overnight monitoring:

CMS 50-D Plus
CMS 50-E Fingertip
Contec CMS-60D

I've emailed one supplier (mfger is in China) to see if they can provide more answers. Apparently they all work, just different price points, from $100 to $199 range.

Let us know if you decide to get one and if so which one and why. I'm sure there are others who will be interested.
