Questions to ask the Doctor on your next visit?
Hi All,
I'll be seeing my sleep doc soon (pulmonologist) and I got to thinking, what questions I should ask?
I usually take a little notebook with questions and to write down answers whenever I go to any doctor.
So, what are your thoughts as to the best questions to ask about our Apnea, CPAP, statistics, etc.?

A catch all question after you are done like is there any other question i should be asking you(doctor) or anything i should know
three or four questions are enough keep the others for later visit just prioritise your questions
oh and write down the questions in order of priority

I have an appointment in a few weeks myself.
What I started last week is a sleep and tiredness log. I want to go in there and say "here, look at this, is this normal? is my treatment what it should be?" I would expect this to help in the doctor's evaluation.
Another question for a sleep doc is "Is there anything I should be asking my primary care doctor?" I've had useful responses to that question in the past.

Well, what brand and model CPAP do you have? Will your sleep doctor or your DME provider be doing a download of your data? Because my questions to my sleep doctor would all be about the data results starting w/requesting a copy of the printout if I hadn't been given one and then asking the doctor to explain anything on the printout I didn't understand or if I understood it and it had room for improvement I'd be asking about how to improve it.

Are there side effects that you know of? I've been using my machine intermittenly for a year and have yet to get a WOW what a sleep night....

I sleep like the proverbial bear, when I go I'm gone for the duration, it's my wife who tells me I frighten her a lot of the time when I stop breathing then suddenly start up again. I might add I am constantly tired. Can fall asleep anywhere. I've mentioned here and had some good advice, but I could not do anything at that time,.

You need to tell us where you are in the process. Is this your first visit with a sleep doc? Followup visit after initial sleep study? Followup visit after titration? Annual visit after 10 years on CPAP?
The questions you would ask will be different for each of these visits.
