contest put on by Breathe Right strips for spouses to tape their loved ones snoring -- designed to be humorous, like America's funniest videos. But I'm not amused...

"The Breathe Clear Nasal Strips division of HealthRight Products has just announced that it is launching the Loudest Snorer in America Video Contest.

With 50 million admitted snorers and likely that many more who snore but think they don't, HealthRight Products, LLC is giving spouses an partners of snorers a chance to settle the argument once and for all.

For those who have a spouse, partner or friend who is a loud, or funny snorer, an entry into the Loudest Snorer Video Contest brings with it a chance to win one of several prizes, including a years supply of Breathe Clear Nasal Strips for their "celebrity" snorer.

Submitted videos, 30-90 seconds in length, will be incorporated into a humorous YouTube and Facebook series that asks America to vote on the best entries. A little humor, a lot of noise.

To enter, contestants follow the contest instructions posted at the HealthRight Products site developed for this event: www.TheLoudestSnorer.com

Note: Snoring may be a symptom of a more serious condition known as Sleep Apnea. While normal snoring is caused by narrow airways, Sleep Apnea is a true breathing obstruction, which requires the sleeper to awaken to start breathing again. A person with sleep apnea wakes up many times a night to regain breathing, but usually remembers nothing at all about waking up. Some results of Sleep Apnea include feeling unrested, tired or lethargic during the day, or finding yourself irritable and short tempered due to a lack of sleep. You should consult a physician to determine if you suffer from this condition.

Now make a video then get some sleep... if you can."

I don't know that this is all that bad. It brings opportunity to educate people about sleep apnea. Worst case scenario...it remains untreated.

Okay...it's a bit stupid.

Treating sleep apnea with breathe rite strips is like treating a broken leg with a band aid.
Keep in mind that Breathe Right even says that it is not for use with sleep apnea ... bad, bad idea on their part to come up with this stupid show.
Future promotions being planned for clients by the same advertising agency: "America's Ugliest Precancerous Lesion", "America's Most Colorful Clogged Arteries", and "America's Highest Blood Sugar Level".
LOL!!!! I can hardly wait to see the commercials played during this wonderful line-up!!! ;^)

NOTE: This is NOT from the Breathe Right company. It's from HealthRight Products, makers of Breathe Clear strips. Breathe Right is...well, it seems they're now a division of GlaxoSmithKline. Didn't know that until just now. At any rate, best not to go protesting against the wrong company.
Well, having recently been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, being a heart patient with coronary artery disease and ongoing problems and concerns with blockages, given the fact that both my sons have diabetes, as did my father who died with complications of diabetes, along with my career history of working with cancer patients and their families for many years, all I have to say about ANY of this ridiculous advertising stuff is BULL....F---ING......SHIT......

I, personally, think any and all of it is deplorable... and demeaning to anyone who's fighting to live.........

Jason, I respect your opinion and your recs completely, as you well know. BUT, from MY perspective, you're way off base with this last comment..See my attached reply to the discussion if you want to know why I feel that way.

Susan,

You used quite some plain language and I appreciate when people are straightforward. However, despite the plain language, I am left not understanding what your point is in quoting me.

Lest you have any misunderstanding of my comments, which you quote more than once, let it be known they were composed in a vein of sardonic humor. I quit making fun of snoring a long time back and compare it to "making fun of someone's precancerous lesions or their diseased arteries” or “making fun of the limping of a child with a leg brace”.

Comprehende?
There isn't anything funny about sleep apnea. and I agree with the previous poster about breathe rite strips and sleep apnea.
My dear Susan, boy am I glad you said it and not me, I thought the same thing I was offended by the making fun , theres nothing funny about this , it is bull f'n s..t! I was hesitent to comment, last night I commented about seeing a huge f'n pubic hair at the sleep study place i go to , I must have offended everyone, no one wrote me back, I also wanted to know how to bump up my pressure, their avoiding me like the plague, who cares, I am so disgusted with feeling sick and tired, I feel useless, as a human, I have to buck-up and accept that i'm alone in this, and I have to like it, I know that. anyway you made my night, your a trip, not afraid to say whats on your mind, I admire that, hugs, Lisa
