A child sleeping.Children need more sleep per day than adults to develop and function properly: up to 18 hours for newborn babies, with a declining rate as a child ages.[12][15] A newborn baby spends almost 9 hours a day in REM sleep. By the age of five or so, only slightly over two hours is spent in REM.[22]

I probably average around 7. My body will usually not llet me sleep more than 8.

I know that sleep is very important. Especially for babies. I was a nanny for 3 sets of twins and used the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby by Marc Weissbluth and by using his methods that involve strict nap times and awake times all the kids I watched were great well behaved children. Most of my kids were tiny babies when I started watching them. I'm certain that it was the amount of sleep that kept them in such great spirits. I still put my 6yr old to bed at 7 to 8pm and she usually sleeps until 7am. A lot of parents don't even think about how important sleep is and they wonder why their kids are so prone to tantrums.

Did better last night. Fell asleep on my 2nd night with the cpap without any sleep aid. Did wake up at 4 am though as my tube was rattling or something and woke me up. Shook the tube out and put it back on and fell asleep again. Going out of town this weekend. First time with my machine. See how it goes.

I usually try to get to bed by 10 and am up at 6:30. I do better if I can get to bed between 9 and 9:30 though.

I can only dream of sleeping for 7-8 hours!!! I usually sleep about 4-5 hours of interrupted sleep per night. Then I usually take a nap during the day :(

Well, I average 7 1/2 hours per night. I TRY to keep my bedtimes midnight to 8:30 AM. (I'm not always good at getting my bod to bed). So many times getting close to midnight "things" start happening, I get interested in what is going on and ..... the road to h*ll is paved w/good intentions. Good sleep hygiene is NOT my forte. On the other hand, I do practice most of the good sleep hygiene bit like a good girl. I've found the clock my entire life or at least as far back as I can remember. When I retired the VERY FIRST thing I did was throw my watch away, take down all calendars and avoid all clocks like the plague.
