I started c-pap last May and I have always used the full face mask because of my facial struture. I tried the nose pillows...forget it...I'm mainly a mouth breather so I got the full face mask. It takes a little time to get used to it however, in th…

My dearest Blackie (Chihuahua) was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea...for course there is a relation of heart disease and sleep apnea. He was diagnosed with a hear murmur and in return his heart enlarged and this caused a disruption of his breathing becau…

My boyfriend's cousin passed away from Obstructive Sleep Apnea. That was a wake up call for me to get checked out because at the time I was very exhausted from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. I also snore my boyfriend out of bed a f…

very sorry to hear about Blackie's health. Losing a pet must be such an ordeal. I dread the day when I will have to face what you're up against with that.

Blackie's health is deteriorating. He has an enlarged Heart and he's on diaretics and enalapril. He's been coughing a lot. More frequent everyday. He finally calmed down and sleeps in his bed which is on my bed. He's not scared. As soon as I turn th…

Fantastic, Victoria. So great to see your progress over the past several months. How's your little doggie handling things -- did you calm her down about the machine, and if so, how did you pull it off?

I'm doing great everyone. Not financially though, but as far as the meds to keep me awake, doing great...100 mg of Provigil is strong enough to prevent me from falling asleep behind the wheel and I have adjusted to my CPAP Machine. No more waking up…

I have been on Provigil for a few years now. My old dr told me that the way it works, it is not the type of drug that the longer you take it, your body gets used to it, Now, my dr switched me to nuvigil and it was not waking me as provigil did. The…

What I did for a hose hanger was to place a couple of cup hooks on the headboard (but it could be done with a wall using the stick type that 3M has) about 3 or so feet apart. I then took a coiled badge holder and stretched between the two cup hooks.…

Susan The picture they supply doesn't do it justice. Depending on the thickness of your mattress, it will sit about a foot and a half above the bed. The picture is showing the lift jammed under a pillow and not between a mattress. It'll work withou…

Bigsky--I've looked at that hose holder too and thought it would be a good idea. I was concerned that it would drag across my fact though. So am I safe in assuming, based on your experience, that it doesn't fall on your face? If not, what keeps it…

I use this hose lift. Works wonders. It sits at the head of my bed between the mattress and box spring. I can move to either side or on my back without the hose ever getting in the way. It breaks down so you may travel with it. http://www.cpap.com/

Victoria, I also keep my machine on the floor to prevent knocking it over and spilling the water. I also understand it should be lower than your head, maybe this helps keep you from breathing in any condensation from the humidifier. I keep mine in a…

In delayed sleep phase syndrome, the internal biological clock runs longer than the normal 24-hour cycle, resulting in a desire to go to sleep later and wake up later. The plan of action? Resetting Merbaum's clock through the use of light therapy: d…

Honestly I believe that the medical industry should be controlled by parties from both the government and private sectors. Until someone comes up with a better solution I will continue to support licensure.

Carol right now those odds are slim. Those jobs just are not open to the RPSGT at this point. Not that I have found anyway. Most sleep programs are only available to RTs right now. We are fighting to put an end to this. The sleep programs should be…

Okay, first off, I would like to see you a little less passive. Why do you have to wait until the 24th of March for a nasal pillows style mask? That's ridiculous. There are several brands and models of nasal pillows style masks and you should have b…

What are the odds of the RSGPTS getting on at DME's and more interaction that is positive other than what many of us have experienced in the RTs or LPNS that have serviced us through the DMEs. I know in this region Lincare has an LPN you deal with.…

Update on my progress, still not using cpap, went to see a new specialist and he wants me to try pillows instead of the mask, does anyone have any input for me on pillows? Suppose to get my pillows on 3-24-2010, Wish me luck!

All I have left to say is that giving complete control to the private sector has worked well for our economy so far. Good luck in GA banyon. I hope that we are still friends. I will continue to follow and be educated by your post. Rock

I don't follow the logic that creating government licensing would take some of the control back from government. But there will be no energy spent by me to stop the effort in NY. Eventually it may come around to GA, as our historically independent…

It is my opinion that every lab should employ an RT. Just due to the nature of what we do. If that RT happens to be double certified for sleep then that is a bonus in my opinion. On the same note DMEs should have to employ a RPSGT as well as a RRT.…
