I had congenital abnormalities that caused my OSA, as well as developing a deviated septum that wasn't diagnosed for several years. I was diagnosed by my spouse when I was 54, but I had to fight with my PCP to get a sleep test. I won that fight (I had lost a fight with her 2 years earlier to get a referral to an ENT for my chronic sinus infections). The sleep test told her to give me a referral to an ENT. The ENT told me to have several surgeries. I was on CPAP for one year while I got other medical issues straightened out (llike having a total hip replacement for excessively severe degenerative arthritis). I just turned 58 and am very happy to have finally been diagnosed and treated for a condition that challenged me for so many years. Females can have OSA. Children can have OSA. Underweight people can have OSA. (I was 5; 7 1/2" tall and weighed 103 lbs when I was 18. My OSA was congenital - not gender related; not age related; not over-weight related.)

It seems that PCPs won't refer you for a sleep test unless they think you are likely to have OSA, CSA, or another sleep disorder.

I am a 30 year old female 5' 8" and 145 lbs. I have sleep apnea to a narrow, recessive jaws. I just had the mma surgery this past January and so far the results have been good

66 and long time undiagnosed sleep apnea

My son is 2.5, I joined to educated myself as the doctors say they can't/won't do anything until age 3, I don't have apnea, but don't sleep either as I stay awake all night to be sure he keeps breathing.

The thought of children so young having SA is overwhelming to me. They aren't really able to understand. Saw another post here for another child.
