Attitude is one of the keys to successful treatment, among other things. Many that have doctors and DME's that are not actively involved in patient care have to struggle to "make" it work. That is why so many fail with cpap. Others that go the surgery method, also, don't have doctor's telling the that the success rate it dismal. Given the right doctor and circumstances, surgery can help -- but it takes a very knowledgeable doctor that can look beyond the dollar signs (ie doing the surgery makes them money) and has the patient health first.

Has the member of your family that is struggling with their cpap tried to tweak his treatment by changing masks, etc. What is bothering him about treatment? Someone maybe able to come up with a solution to make their treatment more optimal if you have them post here on the forum.

Try to keep an open mind, keep reading and learning, and before you know it (if you seek treatment) you will wonder why you didn't do it a long time ago.

I know that today I will not sleep without my machine and mask.
