Sheri, as a member of the SleepGuide Crew I would like to welcome you to the forum.  From your profille it looks as though you were just diagnosed.  I'm glad you found the forum and hopefully we can help you get off to a smooth start with your CPAP.  We usually find the getting the right mask is the hardest part of therapy.  They make many styles of masks as I'm sure you know.  The important part is getting the right fit so the mask is comfortable, then being able to use your machine all night, every night if you want to see improvement in how you feel.

If you would like to post a new discussion with any questions you may have about your sleep study, beginning therapy, or whatever is on your mind we will be happy to try and help.

A diagnosis of sleep apnea is like the diagnosis of any chronic disease and takes  getting used to in stages.  The good news is that for most people CPAP is a simple, effective therapy. It's non invasive involving wearing a mask or nasal pillows to splint the airway open with positive air pressure.  Mine is so unobtrusive I have to reach up to feel the exhaust from the mask to be sure the machine is on at times.  You probably know all of this.  There is a wealth of information on the site about sleep apnea and its treatment.  As I said if we can help please post your questions in a new discussion and I'm sure you will get some feedback.

The site is normally quiet on holidays so you might not get immediate responses.

Again, welcome,

Mary Z.
