I bought and tried for the first time a cervical neck collar instead of my dreaded chin strap!   It worked.  Not perfect, but what is?  My neck does not hurt this morning.  No change in AHI (will see what happens tonight) and only was awakened a few times with mouth "puffing".  So much more comfortable. Wish I had tried it a year ago!!!

Ginny, do I understand the you are waking up with a dry mouth and throat more now with the collar than the chinstrap?  Apparently, it takes very few leaks to create the dry mouth. My mouth is only slightly dry, less so with the collar. Still I use mouthwash upon awakening and am considering Biotene gel to moisten the mouth. If your AHI is the same and your sleep is generally better, I would just add the Biotene.

I keep trying to re-educate my tongue to remain behind the teeth, so as to not open the mouth at night. Using paper tape under my chin, like those chin-up straps, with the lip up (think bulldog), did help until my chin broke out with acne. I liked this chin-up strap as it seemed safer than lip taping which is controversial.

I have tried the chin up tape/straps.  Did not seem to help.  I have been waking up once a night.  I get a drink of water and go back to bed.  It has not happened every night. Do you sometimes feel like it is hard to swallow with our "educated tongues" behind our teeth? I tried the mouth taping months ago.  It did not help at all and I hated it.  Will look in to the Biotene gel.  Thanks!
