Was there a particular person, article, medical argument, symptom, or side effect of sleep apnea, a support/ discussion group, something else  that helped you make the decision that CPAP was the right thing for you to do, a necessary thing for you to do?  What made you say, come hell or high water I'm working and sticking to this therapy? Or any alternative therapy for sleep apnea.

Once I learned the reason for my hypersomnia, which was making my life miserable, I knew I had to try CPAP.  Along the way the help and support from my DME, and to the largest extent SleepGuide, have kept me faithful.  It helps me to hear over and over the consequences of untreated sleep apnea and to get ideas and support from those in the same boat.  The knowledge of how to evaluate the effectiveness of my therapy, beyond the subjective feeling came from this group who taught me to be informed, to think and advocate for myself.

Choking myself, snorting ,waking myself up and thus.... no "playtime" with my wife. Get it?
I keep using it because now I don't fall asleep when driving! Also, I now am able to stay awake all day - I have been using it for 5 months and in that time have not once needed a daytime nap - a huge improvement on my life before CPAP.
I had no I idea I had sleep apnea until my doctor suggested I get a sleep study because of my heart problems and high blood pressure. My results came back as having sever sleep apnea.
My husband couldn't sleep in our bed anymore because of my snoring. That was my first reason. And my blood pressure was creeping up.

It wasn't easy and it took a long while to get there, but I also got addicted to that great feeling you have waking after a night with no appreciable desaturations--that peaceful calm feeling I hadn't had since childhood. That's what keeps me coming back, to tell the truth.
