My prescription is for an Auto Bilevel Device set with Delta Peep of 5cm H2o, maximum of 20cm H2o with heated humidification.
My HMO provided Respironics BIPAP Auto with the above settings, but it is not very effective after 6 months. I wake with headaches, short of breath etc. My HMO is terrible, so I am on my own.
I need help to find a machine that works for me. Could anyone recommend an Auto Bilevel Device? My titration was done on Resmed, but they are very expensive. I found a few used websites, but I don't know what to look for. Thanks. Nancy

Nancy,

I have a preference to Resmed, so I am biased toward their machines.

I am assuming, based on your posting, you are without insurance and watching your pennies.

If this is the case, then let me offer you a suggestion. Using the attached link, do a Craigs List search for a Resmed. I have my best luck just searching using RESMED as the search criteria.

If you succeed in finding a machine on Craigs List, make sure you use PayPal as the purchasing/funding source. It affords you protection in the transaction.

Good luck in your search.

I have to ask what the titration results of your nPAP titration were. I can understand ramp starting at 5cm however it seems low as an auto titrator. I suppose you were diagnosed with Complex Sleep apnea? You may wish to contact your healthcare provider. Pressures too low continue to allow sleep apnea and over titration can cause Central Sleep Apnea. Awakening with headaches does not sound very good.
Thanks for your reply. I also like Resmed. I've looked on Craigslist, but under Bipap. Searching under Resmed is much better. Do you know which Resmed model I should look for? I saw ones like VPAP Adapt SV, Malibu bilevel, Auto 25 Bilevel and Auto Spirit, but I don't know how to tell which one is for me. Thanks again. Nancy

Thanks for your reply. The Respiratory Therapist thought I had Cheyne-Stokes respiration, but when she sent a referral for a more specialized person to do a study and to meet with me, it was denied by my HMO, so she said to just go with what we have.
Are these the titration results?
Heart Rate Respiratory Rate Sa02 on RA End Tidal CO2
57 bpm 15-18 95% 40%
Thanks again. Nancy

This is not a titration report. These are your individual stats which are still important Heart rate 57 beats per minute(bpm), Respiratory Rate is how many times you breathe per minute 15-18 resp per minute.Sao2 is the average amount of oxygen 95%, and End tidal measures your carbon dioxide levels 40%.

you will probably have to get the detailed titration report from the lab that did your study. this will be a detailed report showing when and why your pressures were raised. this report will show your optimal titration level

I do have the sleep study report. I'll look and see if I see anything on it about optimal titration levels and some statement of when and why the pressures were raised. Thanks.

it will normally be an hourly report showing what your pressures were and how many events you had at that pressure.
This is so helpful. I do see that a report says I have obstructive sleep apnea
Does the following indicate events and pressure? It's from my sleep study
Arousals Number #per hour
EEG Arousals(total) 106 28.91
Respiratory & snoring arousals 45 12.27
PLMS arousals 0
PLMS non-arousals 0
Non-specific Arousals 61 16.64

Respiratory Events # per hour
Apnea 1
Hypopneas 30
Total # snoring arousals 32.9
Respiratory Arousal Index 12.27

This is your arousal and event report your AHI(Apnea/hypopnea index) is 31 which puts you at the low end of the severe catagory. This also shows that you arouse from sleep quite a bit. That is usually fixed as the apnea is treated. The titration report will look more like a time card, or an hourly documentation. It will have the time, your pressure at that time, and the number of events you had at that time and on that pressure.

OK thanks for your help. I'll go through my huge file of papers this afternoon and see if I can find anything. Thanks again

I would be looking for the S8 VPAP Auto 25
