Ok, what do y'all consider a complete workup for OSA? Does it always involve a visit to an ENT? How many of you have done this? Dr. Park detailed somewhere, and unfortunately I can't find it, what a good ENT or Sleep Surgeon does in an evaluation of the airway. The only thing I remember is that the doctor should use the little endoscopic camera (?) to envision the entire airway from nose to oropharynx, tonsils, tongue, the whole kit and kaboodle. There are pages of sleep surgeons on the Sleep Guide Professionals list, none with reviews. If I call the office and ask to speak to the nurse or assistant about what kind of exam the Doctor does, what do I ask? Do I ask my Sleep Doctor about the value/need for this kind of exam, and get a recommendation from him?
I understand, or think I do, that I should not consider surgery, if recommended, as curative, but as an adjunct to improve my CPAP Therapy. Neither of my Sleep Doctors, nor my PCP has ever said I should be evaluated by an ENT.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.
Thanks,
Mary Z.
