WHat do you do if you pull off your mask while sleeping and don't know it?

I am taking off my mask sometimes and I wake up snoring and the usual dry throat, look over and there is my mask laying on the floor! Is there an alrm on any of these machines that can tell you when your mask is off or any other suggestions for me??

That happened to me last night. It doesn't happen often to me, maybe once every month or so, but it's annoying when it happens because i know how important it is to sleep with the mask on every night all night. I think some of the machines have a "Large Leak" alarm that will sound when the mask comes off entirely. Looks like you have a Fisher & Paykel, and I'm not sure whether your model comes with the large leak alarm feature.
It could be several things that are making you do it, such as uncoupling your hose which makes you need air even though they say you can breath naturally through the mask when unhooked. The main thing is an event is occuring that makes your unconscious become so uncomfortable that it takes over to save you.
I found out what I was doing wrong by taping myself with a night vision lense on my cam corder
Usually this is just a matter of getting acclimated to wearing a mask to sleep and the CPAP therapy. During the day, or early evening, don your mask, turn your CPAP on and work a crossword or jigsaw puzzle, read a book or magazine, knit, crochet, fold clothes, match those doggone socks, watch TV - anything that occupies your mind on something besides "I've got to get to sleep". Just be sure to remove your humidifier's water tank as you move your CPAP from bedroom to wherever you are going to use it to "practice".

Some CPAPs do have a LeakAlert alarm, or SmartStop, look thru your particular CPAPs Users Manual to see what options are available.
Try taping the velcro loops to the glider on the HC406. That will make it much harder for you to take the mask off in the middle of the night.

thanks again everybody, I am going to look into all those suggestions. My last reply for turning the moisture off instead of at 0 really helped my rain out too! You guys are the best!! SLEEP TIGHT!!
Set the leak alarm. It will wake you up when you trasition to lighter sleep.
