Wearing CPAP
I can't get my husband to wear his CPAP machine! Any suggestions on how to approach this? I have tried everything, trying to scare him with statistics, begging & pleading, nothing has worked. What should I do?

Just curious...what reason does he give for not using his machine? Have you tried talking to his doctor? How did you get him in for the sleep study? I find this interesting as my partner has had one for years. When we got together, I just took it to be part of being with him and accepted it. When I was diagnosed, I was all for using my machine. In fact, my kids and husband were very willing to leiste to my partner as he was helping to teach them how to set it up for me. All of our friends that have cpaps know if they don't bring theirs to stay overnight, I will be giving them some hell. LOL Good hearted hell, but hell none the less. We have one friend that makes sure I know he brought his when I see him at our monthly get togethers as he stays overnight. I will be knitting him a hose cover soon. Just have to finish the one for my partner. LOL

I wish there was something you could do, but it's really up to him. Erectile Dysfunction is a consequence of untreated sleep apnea, that might sway him. My DME says this is a common problem. He gets machines returned all the time with two hours of use on them. Maybe he needs to think it's his own idea. Short of moving out of the bedroom unless he tries it I can't think of a thing that you can do. Except maybe Rock's idea- is it possible to videotape him, or just an audio tape as he is breathing and then he isn't?

He doesn't like laying there with it on? I'm like your asleep in 5 minures! I told him he needed to go get the sleep study done and he said, ok! no problem!

So he just doesn't like to lay there and wait? LOL I have nights like that too. LOL What kind of mask does he have? I have a nasal mask, but I love mine. It is similar to my partner's so it is nothing new to me. *shrugs* Kinda sounds like he doesn't like his mask or he is just impatient. Perhaps he just needs to keep trying. I have a friend that takes his off in the night. His fiance is always waking him up to get him to put it back on. Kinda funny as she has a cpap as well.
