I never seem to make it to the time I have alarm clock set to get me up. Always wake up 1 to 2 hours before. This is my second week of PAPing. Just have to get use to it?

Has this always happened, or just since you started pap therapy?
For me, just since I started CPAP therapy. I've never been a morning person. But my mind evidently is telling ME what time it is going to wake up whether I like it or not. Even waking up feeling refreshed I didn't and don't like waking up early, especially if it is still dark out. I HATE waking up alert and awake when it is still dark out.
Go to sleep later. You have worked off your debt. Now you should be able to adjust your sleep schedule to fit your life style judy. It is very common for people to think they have insomnia after starting CPAP.

Oh, Rock, I very seldom ever hit the bed before midnight. But even if I stay up to 2 AM or so my bod seems to wake up at 6:30-7AM whether I like it or not. I can stay in bed but I don't get back to sleep so why bother? Might as well get up and take it out on the cats!! They like to help me make the bed, think that they can read the 'puter monitor, and lie to me about whether hubby has fed them or not. They are good about NOT waking us up tho and are generous in sharing the bed so they don't interfere w/our sleep. UNLESS one hops on the bed and disturbs one already there. Generally, they share. Whoever gets in bed first gets the bed all night and the others sleep elsewhere. Most of the time only two bother to spend the night in the house at all anyway.
Such is your life.
Chris, I have been reading some of your post. I noticed that your Doctor elected to go with an auto-bipap unit over a titration study. As a tech I think that this was a bad decision. Tweeking your machine is entirely up to you, but if you don't have a good base to start from I believe that you are opening the door for problems. The very problems that you have been discussing in forum. Initial titration studies are very important. Follow up titration studies are just as important. These machines are smart, but they are no replacement for human interpretation or observation.
We did try titration study but a stuffed nose keped the first one from comming up with useable results and I only got a couple of hours sleep the second time. Wanted to go for a third but the doc said no and we will use the bi level. I have been waking up early after starting PAP so yes something might not be right and a sleep study will probably help.
Why is it that you techs go home so early in the morning. If they did not wake me up at 5 at the second study I would have probably got 8 hours of sleep.
And where do you think I should go from here? Think I am going to try to get the doc to try a sleep study.
We have to be at work at 7pm. We don't wake pts up at my lab until 6am. I go home between 7:30 and 8 am. This morning I had to start an MSLT so I have been evaluating sleep for almost 18 hours.

Just as a patient I have to agree w/Rock Hinkle. NO WAY would I want to try a bi-level w/o a decent bi-level titration study under my belt first. At least w/the Resmeds there are so darn many setting options besides "just" IPAP and EPAP and I don't imagine the Respironics bi-levels are any less complicated.

As long as I stay outta Spontaneous mode and stick w/auto mode w/the VPAP I'm sleeping good, even if on occasion, I don't get 6-7 hours sleep. My average over the last year has been 7-7 1/2 hours a night so there HAVE been nights I hit the hay before midnight and mornings I have slept past 6-7 AM. (Or I snuck in a nap). My favorites are always when I sleep between 6-8:30 AM regardless what time I went to bed. Gimme those 2-2 1/2 hours of sleep and I'm pretty happy. That is just such a good sleep time frame for me for some reason.
