Hi all, I am new to this group and wanted to draw on the collective knowledge assembled to help me figure out a few things. I have had my VPAP for almost 2 years and get along fine with it, except for occasional Mirage mask leaks waking me and partner up several times a night.

I switch to the Resmed nose pillow mask off and on to alleviate that problem but run into another problem: the VPAP makes a faint whistling noise in the area of the humidifier that keeps us awake in our quiet bedroom. It becomes louder as I inhale or exhale and makes no noise if I hold my breath. I know the brushless DC motor is accelerating and decelerating constantly, but has anyone found a way to "mask" or eliminate this bothersome trait of the machine? I tried wrapping it but the noise comes through the air outlet over the humidifier. Water level makes no difference. Anybody else out there notice this? Anybody out there have a solution?

Hi Tom, I used to notice the noises my machine makes. If the hose moves infront of the exhaust it gets louder, but a hose managment system to suspend the hose has helped. I also run an air ioniser/purifier which provides a consistant tone of its own which masks any noise the machine makes. Good Sleep,Chris
This is so simple I'm sure you've checked it out, but be sure the humidifier chamber clicks closed.
Thank you Mary & Chris, but I tried those fixes without avail. This noise is a high pitched squeal from within the air chamber that is not dependent on the humidity chamber having water or being open/closed. Short of taking the darned thing apart I am still wondering if anyone has had this same problem or is it jst my machine? Thanks.
