Has anyone bought and used the Ultimate Chinstrap Solution for sleep apnea?  It stops a person from breathing out of his mouth when he has on a cpap mask.

If you have, how do you like it?  Did it meet all your expectations?

I am desperately seeking a chinstrap that really works.  I discovered I open my mouth when I sleep no matter what type of mask I use.  I've tried at least 5 different masks (no full mask) and none of them really worked for me.  I am currently using the Swift FX for Her with the extra small pillows.  Works great until I move my head from one side to the other.  When I do, either the pillows or the straps move and wake me up and my mouth is do dry I can hardly swallow. This goes on all night.

I've used the chinstrap supplied by my company and it is flimsy and worthless.  I also used the OptiLife (?) pillow mask that has a chinstrap attached and it also did not work.  Back it went!  I watched the footage of Russ' advertisement and it looked pretty good.

I haven't had a good night's sleep in two months.  If this chinstrap doesn't work I will have to stop using the cpaps all together.  I need sleep!  On top of that my doctor is weaning me off of one antidepressant and onto a new one.  I suspect that might have something to do with my tiredness during the day because I'm on two anti-depressants at the same time until I am finally off the first one.  But I know this has nothing to do with my waking up during the night.

I hope to hear a good testimonial from someone here on the forum.

Rita, the antidepreesant can do strange things to you as well especially if you are changing from one to another. I'm slowly tapering off mine and in some people it actually causes more insomnia. I get all the withdrawl symptoms when I go up or down. I've never tried the Ultimate Chin Strap, I'm sure other have and like it, it seems a bit cumbersome to me but that's just me. I'm not sure if you have tighten yours, also I find if I have it towards the back of the head it stays on better, I also put some material around to top and anywhere it marks my skin. Most people recommend having it under the mask straps but I put mine on over the straps, you may want to try different ways till you get there.

Mike, thank you so much for both your honesty in everything you thought against and for the Ultimate Chin Strap.  I just ordered one, plus the pillow, yesterday from Russ's wife...can you believe the personal service?

I covered my mouth last night using an old chinstrap but while it was clumsy feeling it did work.  I can't wait to get my order from Russ because of you.  You took away all my doubts and for that I can't thank you enough.

I understand your wife perfectly.  If it were me, I'd be shaking you awake every 15 minutes to see if you were still alive.  ;-)  She's just doing her job as a loving, caring wife so be kind to her, which I know yoi are just joking about her.

Thanks again and I'll let everyone know how it works for me when I get mine.

I know you're right about the strange things anti-depressants can do until they are in your system a while.  Thank God, and I mean that literally, that the only side effect I have is sleepiness when I wake up.  I have two more steps to go down before I'm off the old one.  Hopefully it will only take another two weeks but my doctor made me wait 10 days before I could taper down another 12 mgs.
