Was told in 1989 that Diabetes was a possibility without a specially controlled diet! They lied!!! Given pills (Glyburide) and (Metformin) to take care of continuing side-problems. Got worse! 5 years later finally got a CPAP, but no discussion about possible connection with APNEA. Heart Double Bye-Pass 1993, Strokes (multiple-mini) 1996-2004 (all blamed on Spinal Meningitis 1989), Full-blown Type II Diabetes requiring insulin injections (4TID) 2005, Major Stroke 2006, changed CPAP to include moisture for Desert Living situation 2008. Still shooting insulin (4TID=8/12/4/8 X 40cc) Nobody ever made the connection for me until this discussion...not the doctors, especially! I guess that's why they call it "Practicing Medicine!!!"
