Found out an interesting thing about my lab today. After the FIRST study if a pt is diagnosed with apnea our doctors go ahead and set the pt up on therapy before the titration study. sometimes our pts have been on cpap for up to 4 weeks before the actual titration study. This makes for a generally easy titration for all involved. I am not sure how the doctors figure out what setting to start out on, but whatever they are doing it works.

Good for them!! Around here it is usually a month to 6 weeks between the studies and that seems like an eternity when you are wondering about your results. It maybe better now with the opening of the new sleep study. Last week when my son had their baby, I had to walk by the "old" sleep lab and it is still marked as being a sleep lab -- so unsure if they kept their 2 bed unit going or using it for something else. Our sleep lab is part of our hospital.
My lab is part of a hospital too. I am not sure what the average times is between studies yet. On top of that the DME is through the hospital and seem to be on top of their game.
that's a great thing. if sleep apnea is life threatening, and it is... then those of us who are in the sleep field should treat it with the urgency that this life-saving treatment deserves.
