I have owned three different CPAP machines over the last twenty years. The first in the early nineties and then again around 2000. I have never been able to last even one night using them and usually gave up and just lived with the snoring, the choking, gasping for air and general lethargy and tiredness. This time I did a split sleep study (my first). The second night the technicians took the time to find a setting that was right for me. I used the nasal pillows (which are much improved from the ones in 2000) and was surprised when the Tech woke me up to go to work. I usually am screaming for a nap by noon each day. I was amazed at the energy I had. I just got my own machine and I am now determined to use it each and every time I sleep. Much more comfortable than previous attempts. So don't give up and make sure your physician uses a lab that will take the time to get everything right. Third times a charm.
